The Padres 2026 City Connect jersey has leaked. Photos have been circulating for weeks now, but with a launch tag stamped "April 6th at 9:00 AM," we can essentially confirm these are the real deal. San Diego is set to officially reveal the full set on April 9, with the on-field debut coming April 10 against the Rockies.

Let's break down everything we know so far.

The Leaked Jersey

The jersey uses a navy blue base, which is a huge departure from the previous City Connect that leaned into bright pastels. Across the chest is a brush-style "San Diego" wordmark in white with orange and pink outlining that gives it a graffiti feel. The number sits below in the same style.

The sleeve details are where things get interesting. There's a Dia de los Muertos sugar skull patch on the left sleeve with "Padres" text, and the piping along the sleeves uses an orange-to-pink gradient that pops against the dark navy. It's a bold combination, but it works because the base is dark enough to ground everything.

We tentatively like this set. It is much better than the previous City Connect that San Diego has been wearing for the last three seasons. That old design with the pink and turquoise never really fit the Padres' identity. It felt forced. This one at least leans into the navy blue that the franchise should have been using all along.

The Dia de los Muertos theme on the sleeve is not something we would have chosen, but it gives the jersey some identity and ties into San Diego's culture. The turquoise nameplate on the back is a nice touch that adds another layer without going overboard. And the piping along the side of the pants is subtle but clean.

The Hat

If that hat leak is real, it is a win for the overall set. It is simple, wearable, and gets the job done without being too over the top. The cream crown with the navy brim is a classic combination, and the interlocking SD logo in navy with orange trim looks clean. This is the kind of hat fans will actually buy and wear outside the stadium, which is really the whole point.

The Full Mock-Up

The Padres' official teaser video features a mariachi theme that matches the cultural direction of the leaked jersey. Here is a full mock-up of the complete set based on the leaked images:

Compared to the Previous City Connect

Look at the difference. The previous City Connect used a cream base with mismatched pastel sleeves in red, orange, and green. It was loud, it was all over the place, and it never felt like a Padres jersey. The colors were more suited for a beach volleyball tournament than a Major League ballpark.

The 2026 version is a massive improvement. The navy base gives it structure. The orange accents tie into the franchise's secondary color palette. And the overall theme is more cohesive. It is not perfect, but it is a real step forward.

We also just prefer the navy blue in general. The brown and gold primary set has never been our favorite. We have always thought San Diego looked better in blue and orange, and this City Connect at least gives fans a taste of that.

Our Grade

The jersey could be a bit cleaner overall. The brush-style font is trendy and might not age well in a few years. But the colors pop, the hat is wearable, and this is a massive improvement over the previous City Connect set. San Diego finally got one right.

Overall Grade

B

The official reveal is set for April 9, and the Padres will wear these for every Friday home game this season. We will update this post with official photos once they drop.
