Spectrum SportsNet has updated the Dodgers score bug for the second time this year. The first update, which we covered in our Dodgers Spectrum SportsNet score bug breakdown, added a challenges bar and a cleaner hitter-pitcher display. This second update tweaks that change: the full challenges bar is gone, replaced by the SNLA+ app logo, and the challenges indicator moved to the right of each team's score.
What Changed in This Second Update
The biggest swap: the horizontal challenges bar on the right side of the score bug is gone. In its place, Spectrum SportsNet dropped the SNLA+ logo. That's the same SportsNet LA streaming app the Dodgers are pushing across smart TVs, mobile phones, and connected devices. Putting it on the score bug is a clear signal about where Spectrum SportsNet wants viewers to go next.
Newest Update — SNLA+ logo + icon challenges
Previous Update — horizontal challenges bar
The challenges data did not disappear, it just moved. Each team's remaining challenges are represented by a small icon to the right of their score. Yellow means the team has a challenge available. When the icon is dimmed out, that team has already used theirs. Simpler in theory, but the icon state still takes a beat to read at a glance.
The SNLA+ Push Is the Real Story
This update is less about the score bug and more about the digital strategy. The Dodgers and Spectrum SportsNet have been leaning hard into the SportsNet LA app. Putting the SNLA+ logo where the challenges bar used to be is prime on-screen real estate. Every viewer sees it every pitch. It's a constant soft nudge toward the app.
That is a deliberate product play. The streaming app lets SportsNet LA capture viewers outside the traditional cable bundle, and putting the logo on broadcast is the cheapest possible marketing channel for the app. Expect more local RSNs to follow this pattern as the cable-to-streaming shift accelerates.
The Challenges Icon Is Still Confusing
We flagged the original challenges bar as hard to parse on first watch. The new icon version is cleaner visually but the meaning still takes a second to click. Yellow equals available, dim equals used. Once you know, you know. But broadcast graphics should be legible in the first few seconds, not require learning a legend.
A small text label next to the icon (something like "1 CHL" or the number of challenges remaining) would solve it instantly.
Comparing All Three Dodgers Score Bugs
2026 Newest Update — SNLA+ logo replaces the challenges bar, challenges indicator moved next to each team score
2026 Beginning of Year Update — horizontal challenges bar added, hitter-pitcher display refreshed with bolder fonts
2025 Score Bug — the original layout before any 2026 updates
Three versions now on the books. The 2025 original was the cleanest-looking but had the least information. The first 2026 update added the challenges bar, hitter-pitcher info, and bolder fonts, but felt cluttered on the right side. The second update (the newest one) condenses the challenges into icons and swaps the free real estate for SNLA+ branding.
Progress, but still not Dodgers-specific the way a flagship RSN should feel. The Red Sox on NESN, the Mets broadcast, and other local networks are doing more to make their score bugs feel like the team. Spectrum SportsNet has the biggest franchise in the sport on their network, and the broadcast package should reflect that.
Our Grade: B
The first update earned a B- from us. This second update bumps it to a B. It is cleaner, uses the score bug real estate more efficiently, and the SNLA+ logo push is a smart product move. Still not Dodger-specific enough for our taste, but a minor improvement.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is SNLA+?
SNLA+ is the SportsNet LA Plus streaming app. It lets Dodgers fans watch SportsNet LA broadcasts on smart TVs, phones, and connected devices without a traditional cable subscription. The logo is now featured on the Dodgers score bug for the 2026 season.
What does the yellow icon next to the Dodgers score mean?
On the updated Dodgers score bug, the challenges icon next to each team's score is yellow when the team has a challenge available to use. When the icon is dimmed out, the team has already used its challenges.
When did Spectrum SportsNet update the Dodgers score bug?
Spectrum SportsNet updated the Dodgers score bug twice in the 2026 season. The first update added a challenges bar and refreshed the hitter-pitcher display. The second update, rolled out in April 2026, replaced the challenges bar with the SNLA+ app logo and moved the challenges indicator next to each team's score.
How does the new Dodgers score bug compare to the old one?
The newest Dodgers score bug is cleaner than both previous versions. The core score, inning, count, and base runner layout stayed the same across all three, but the challenges information has been condensed into icons and the SNLA+ logo replaces the horizontal challenges bar. See our original Dodgers score bug breakdown for the first-update comparison.
