New Orleans Pelicans Scorebug 2026: Local Broadcast Design Review

The New Orleans Pelicans local broadcast scorebug for the 2026 NBA season is one of the more disappointing designs in the league. The Pelicans have one of the most fun brand identities in the NBA, with a color palette of navy, red, and gold that should translate beautifully to broadcast graphics. Instead, what we get is a scorebug that looks like it was designed five years ago and has not been touched since.

The layout is basic. Logos, abbreviations, and scores are all present and readable, but the arrangement feels dated compared to what other teams around the league are doing with their local broadcasts. There is no creative use of the Pelicans' color scheme, no nods to the fleur-de-lis or any of the New Orleans-inspired design elements that make this brand stand out. It is just a scorebug that happens to have Pelicans colors on it.

The proportions are off in a way that makes the whole thing feel clunky. There is too much dead space in some areas and not enough breathing room in others. The typography does not feel modern, and the overall structure looks like it belongs on a broadcast from a few seasons ago. When you compare this to what teams like the Celtics or Thunder have on their local broadcasts, the gap in quality is noticeable.

What makes this especially frustrating is that the Pelicans' brand has so much to work with. Navy, red, and gold is a top-tier color combination. The pelican logo is distinctive and fun. New Orleans itself is one of the most visually rich cities in the country. None of that comes through in the broadcast graphics.

Grade: C+

Boring and looks out of date. It is a shame because the Pelicans have a fun brand and one of the best color schemes in the NBA, and none of it shows up in this scorebug.
