The Minnesota Timberwolves just officially dropped the team's new 2026-27 uniform set, the new Core Court and Statement Court at Target Center, and the modernized wolf head logo, and this is the single best NBA rebrand of the year. The brighter blue and green color palette from the original 1989 expansion era is back, the throwback WOLVES wordmark is stamped on every jersey, the green pine tree print pattern returns as the signature design element of the Statement Edition black alternate, the bright green numerals on the back of the Icon Edition blue road jersey might be the single best design detail in any new NBA uniform this year, and the Core Court at Target Center is one of the cleanest home floors the league has put down in years. We grade the full Minnesota Timberwolves rebrand A+ with full approval. This is our favorite NBA rebrand of the 2026-27 design cycle, the strongest single-franchise identity reset we have covered on ColorWay Sports, and the Icon Edition blue road jersey might be the best blue jersey in the entire NBA. Full breakdown, jersey-by-jersey grades, court-by-court grades, and a closer look at the new wolf head crest below.
The New Wolf Head Logo
The new Minnesota Timberwolves logo is a modernized take on the franchise's original wolf head crest. The howling white wolf sits inside a silver basketball with a green star, the navy blue base and silver basketball detailing give the mark a clean two-tone interior, and the bright green outer ring carries the throwback Wolves green that runs across every piece of the uniform set. The crest reads strong at every scale, from the chest patch on the back of the warm-up shirt to the courtside signage to the Target Center scoreboard center mark. The modernized wolf is sharper, the basketball is cleaner, and the green star and green pine tree silhouettes inside the basketball lock in the Minnesota nature DNA without leaning into kitsch. The new logo is a brand mark that will hold up for the next twenty years.
The Association Edition (White Home)
The Association Edition white home jersey is the cleanest broadcast canvas the Wolves have run since the original Kevin Garnett-era set. The WOLVES wordmark across the chest sits in the throwback blue with the bright green outline, the same wordmark that anchored the 1995-96 home uniform and one of the most recognizable basketball chest treatments of the late 90s. The macro close-up shows the depth of the embroidered green outline edging the blue letters, the kind of twill and stitch construction that the muted current Wolves wordmark has never matched. The white base reads clean on broadcast against any road opponent and the brighter, more saturated palette replaces the muted navy and forest green direction of the past decade. The side cutaway detail on the hem of the shorts brings back a design quirk we have not seen across NBA uniforms in years, the kind of small heritage callback that gives the new set personality the current Wolves shorts have completely lacked. The only thing we wish for on this jersey is the tree print landing somewhere on the body, but the green pine tree silhouettes on the shorts waistband and lower tag tie the whole family together. We give the Association Edition white home jersey an A+.
The Icon Edition (Blue Road)
The Icon Edition blue road jersey might be our favorite blue jersey in the entire NBA. The saturated brighter blue base from the 1989 expansion identity reads stronger on broadcast than any team blue in the league right now and the green WOLVES wordmark with the bright green outline gives the chest the maximum chromatic separation against the blue body. The back of the jersey is the single best design detail in the entire rebrand, the massive bright green REID and EDWARDS numerals against the brighter blue base, a green-on-blue color block we have not seen executed this cleanly anywhere in the league. The green number treatment ties straight back to the original Kevin Garnett-era road jersey and gives the back of the uniform the same chromatic depth the throwback wordmark carries on the front. The side cutaway detail on the shorts returns on the Icon set too, the same heritage hem cutaway that runs across the Association whites and one of the strongest small details of the new uniform family. The shorts waistband carries the green pine tree silhouette and the white Minnesota M monogram label that ties the entire new uniform family together as a single design system. We give the Icon Edition blue road jersey an A+.
The Statement Edition (Black Alternate, Where the Trees Live)
The Statement Edition black alternate is the jersey that puts the Hardwood Classic tree print front and center, and we are not usually fans of black jerseys at all but the Wolves Statement set is incredible. The green pine tree print wraps the collar trim, the shoulder yoke, the back yoke, the shorts waistband, and the shorts bottom hem. The tree print runs across every panel of the uniform that can carry pattern detail, lifting straight from the original Hardwood Classic uniform side panel and now landing across multiple panels for a more modern integration of the same heritage motif. The black base lets the green tree pattern and the blue-and-green outline detail on the white WOLVES wordmark read as the strongest single design element on the jersey, the kind of high-contrast alternate that earns a spot in the regular rotation rather than sitting in the closet as a once-a-month curiosity. The Jordan Brand Jumpman patch on the chest replaces the Nike swoosh on the Statement Edition only, the standard Jordan Brand Statement Edition treatment now in the throwback Wolves green for the perfect tonal match with the rest of the new color story. We give the Statement Edition black alternate an A.
The Core Court at Target Center
The new Wolves Core Court at Target Center is one of the cleanest home floors in the NBA. The new wolf head crest sits at center court as the focal point of the entire design, framed by the bright green outer ring that matches the jersey green for a fully unified color story. The gray paint color in the key is the strongest design call on the floor, a tonal break from the standard hardwood that reads strong on broadcast and lets the new wolf head crest stand out at center court without competing with the foul lines for attention. The TIMBERWOLVES wordmark in green sits on the navy blue baselines, and the small row of green pine tree silhouettes underneath each baseline is the small heritage callback that ties the new floor straight into the same tree-print design system that runs across the Statement Edition jersey trim and the shorts waistband of every uniform in the set. The Core Court is the floor the Wolves should have been playing on for the past ten years and we cannot think of a single thing we would change about the design. We give the Core Court an A+.
The Statement Court
The Statement Court is the alternate floor paired with the Statement Edition black jerseys, and the design call gives the Wolves their second court treatment of the new uniform cycle. The new wolf head crest is not on the Statement Court at center the same way it is on the Core Court, but the WOLVES wordmark stretched across the center section of the stained dark hardwood reads strong on broadcast against the black-painted ends. The black baselines and black-painted ends are the design element we are most mixed on, a lot of black between the dark stained midsection and the black ends that swallows up some of the color story that the new Wolves green and brighter blue have brought to the rest of the rebrand. We get the design call, the Statement Court is built to pair with the Statement Edition black jersey, and the tonal match between the black floor ends and the black jersey body is a clean look on broadcast. But the bright green pine tree silhouettes and the bright blue color story have so much room to breathe on the Core Court that the Statement Court can feel a touch heavy by comparison. We give the Statement Court an A-.
The Wolves on Every Jersey
Every jersey in the new Minnesota Timberwolves uniform set reads WOLVES across the chest. There is no MINNESOTA wordmark, there is no city name and team name combination, every single piece of the new uniform family carries the WOLVES wordmark as the front identity. This is the rare NBA franchise move of stamping the same wordmark across every uniform in the set, the kind of repetition that locks in the wordmark itself as the brand signature in a way the rotating MINNESOTA-WOLVES-TIMBERWOLVES alternation across the current Wolves set never has. The WOLVES throwback wordmark is the strongest single design element of the entire rebrand and the franchise smartly chose to ride it across every jersey body in the set. We are fully on board with the call. The Wolves wordmark is unique enough to carry the entire identity and the repetition reinforces the throwback DNA of the rebrand across every angle a broadcast or jersey shopper will see.
The Final Rebrand Grade
The Minnesota Timberwolves rebrand is the strongest single-franchise identity reset of the 2026-27 NBA design cycle. The brighter blue and green color palette replaces the muted navy and forest green direction that has dragged on the brand for the past decade. The throwback WOLVES wordmark on every jersey locks in the chest identity. The tree print pattern returns as the signature design element of the Statement Edition jersey and threads across every uniform in the family through the shorts waistband. The new wolf head crest gives the franchise a brand mark that will hold up for the next twenty years. The Core Court is one of the cleanest home floors in the league. This is our favorite NBA rebrand and we have no notes. The Wolves get our full approval.
Full Rebrand Grade: A+
The 2026-27 Minnesota Timberwolves rebrand is the throwback-as-the-future identity reset the entire NBA has been trending toward over the past three seasons and the Wolves just delivered the textbook execution. The white Association, blue Icon, and black Statement set covers every uniform slot, the new wolf head crest and the Core and Statement courts complete the visual identity, and every piece of the new design system pulls from the franchise's strongest era without copying the past one for one. A+ from us and one of the best NBA brand resets of the entire Nike era.
