via the Baltimore Ravens
Wow. There is a lot to unpack here. The Baltimore Ravens officially unveiled their 2026 uniform collection tonight under the campaign "The Next Flight," and this is the biggest uniform change in Ravens history since the franchise debuted in 1996. Four jerseys, three helmets, new wordmarks, new collar patterns, new sleeve shields, an all-new blackout alternate uniform called "Darkness," and a full brand refresh. We are going to go piece by piece.
The Three Helmets
via the Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens now have three helmet options for 2026.
1. The primary black helmet stays essentially the same as what Baltimore has worn for years. Black shell, black facemask, the primary Ravens logo on the side. This is the look the team has built its identity around and they were right to leave it alone.
2. The Purple Rising helmet was first introduced in 2024 and returns for 2026 with one important update. The metallic purple shell with gold talon stripes and gold facemask is the same, but the team has swapped in the primary Ravens logo on the side for interchangeability with multiple uniforms.
3. The Darkness helmet is brand new and this one is the statement piece of the reveal. Matte black shell, black talon stripes, and a two-toned front-facing Ravens logo with glowing red eyes that reference the red eyes above the player tunnel at M&T Bank Stadium. It is intimidating, it is modern, and it ties directly into the "when Darkness Falls at M&T Bank" campaign.
Primary Home Purple: Grade B+
via the Baltimore Ravens
The purple primary is a small tweak rather than a full redesign, and we are glad the Ravens did not blow this one up. Purple jersey, black helmet, white pants. Same silhouette, same foundation.
via the Baltimore Ravens
What changed: the numbers are noticeably cleaner and more refined, the shoulders have new sleeve shields with an iridescent midnight-purple keyline, and the collar now features the new Raven Wings pattern. That pattern is officially described as a raven's wings spread wide in a threat display. Baltimore is calling it aggression and dominance. We are calling it a lot of activity on the collar.
Old vs new comparison:
Previous primary home: purple jersey, black helmet, white pants (Shawn Hubbard / Baltimore Ravens Photos)
We actually think the old purple primary was a little cleaner. The collar is now busier than it needed to be. The numbers are a clear upgrade though, and the sleeve shield adds a nice modern touch. Still one of our favorite purple uniforms in the NFL even with the extra collar detail.

Primary Road White: Grade B+
The white road uniform got the biggest functional change among the primaries. The team added a "BALTIMORE" wordmark across the chest for the first time, paired the jersey with white, blue, or purple pants, and kept the black helmet on top.
via the Baltimore Ravens
We love the Baltimore wordmark. Representing Charm City wherever The Flock flies is exactly the kind of identity choice more NFL teams should make on the road. The white, blue, and purple pant options give the Ravens three different road looks out of a single jersey, which is really smart.
The Raven Wings collar pattern is more visible on the white than it is on the purple, and that is where we start to have some issues. On purple, the pattern blends. On white, it stands out. We don't love how busy it makes the collar look against the clean white fabric.
Old vs new comparison:
Previous white road design
The numbers are cleaner, the Baltimore wordmark is a real identity upgrade, and the sleeve shield looks great. The only drag is the collar. If they had kept the neckline simpler, this would be an A- uniform.

Alternate Purple Rising: Grade A-
via the Baltimore Ravens
The revamped Purple Rising alternate is gorgeous. We usually don't love monochrome uniforms. One-color head-to-toe setups can look flat or gimmicky. This one works.
via the Baltimore Ravens
The metallic purple helmet with gold talon stripes and gold facemask is one of the best alternate helmets in the league. The numbers are crisp. The sleeve shield in midnight purple and metallic gold looks like a real brand element rather than a decoration. The pants carry the Talon Stripes, which the Ravens say imitate the sharpened claws of a raven with a diagonal cut that references the Calvert crest from the Baltimore and Maryland flags. That is real design storytelling.
Old vs new comparison:
2024 Purple Rising first generation
The 2024 Purple Rising was a good start. The 2026 version refines every detail. Cleaner numbers, better sleeve shield, updated pants, and the primary Ravens logo on the helmet gives it consistency with the rest of the brand. This is the best piece of the rebrand.

Alternate Darkness Blackout: Grade A-
via the Baltimore Ravens
The Darkness uniform is the biggest swing of the reveal. All-black jersey, all-black pants, matte black helmet, and that front-facing Ravens logo with red eyes glowing from the side of the helmet. It is intense. It is intimidating. It feels like a football uniform built for a night game and nothing else.
via the Baltimore Ravens
The inside collar stitching is "Darkness there and nothing more." That is a direct line from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven," the poem the franchise is named after. It is one of the best identity details any NFL team has included in a uniform reveal in years. The literary reference ties the blackout uniform to the core brand history in a way that feels earned.
Usually we don't love head-to-toe black. This one earns it. The helmet alone is going to sell a lot of merchandise.

The Details You Might Have Missed
via the Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens loaded this rebrand with small details that are worth calling out.
Sleeve Shields. All three jerseys now feature a shield patch on the sleeve, each in midnight purple with an iridescent keyline. The Darkness shield uses black and midnight purple. The Purple Rising shield uses midnight purple and metallic gold. This ties the whole brand together at a piece-level.
Talon Striped Pants. The pant design imitates the sharpened claws of a raven, with a diagonal cut that represents the Calvert crest from both the Baltimore and Maryland flags. This is exactly the kind of local storytelling that makes a uniform feel rooted.
Inside Collar Phrases. Each jersey has a key phrase from the Ravens lexicon stitched inside the back of the collar:
- Primary purple and primary white: "PLAY LIKE A RAVEN"
- Darkness: "DARKNESS THERE AND NOTHING MORE"
- Purple Rising: "PURPLE RISING"
Back Collar. The purple, black, and Purple Rising back collars read "BALTIMORE." The white jersey reads "RAVENS." All of them except the gold text sit on iridescent midnight purple material. This is the iridescent detail that has been rumored for months and now officially confirmed.
Overall Grade: A-
via the Baltimore Ravens
The Ravens needed to modernize without blowing up an identity that has worked for three decades. They did it. The primaries got cleaner numbers, better sleeve shields, and a new wordmark strategy that gives the road jerseys real Baltimore identity for the first time. The alternates are where this rebrand separates itself from the rest of the 2026 class. The Purple Rising refresh is the best single-color uniform in the NFL, and the Darkness set with the new helmet is the most visually aggressive alternate this league has produced in years.
The only thing holding this back from an A is the Raven Wings collar pattern, which we think adds visual noise to both primary jerseys. That is a small quibble in a rebrand that otherwise nails the details.

How the Ravens 2026 Uniforms Compare to Other NFL Redesigns
The Ravens are the fifth and final NFL team to reveal new uniforms this offseason. The Titans went first with a full rebrand at B+. The Falcons followed with a course correction that earned a B. The Rams dropped the gradient and landed at B-. The Commanders delivered our highest-graded redesign ever with an A. The Ravens slot in right below Washington at A-, giving us two AFC North style refreshes that cleared most of the NFL's 2026 output.
