With the Ravens set to unveil brand new uniforms on April 16, 2026, under "The Next Flight" campaign, we wanted to take a full look back at every uniform the franchise has worn since arriving in Baltimore in 1996. Reports say the new collection will feature a simplified number font, a "Baltimore" wordmark on the road jerseys, and iridescent accents inspired by raven feathers. But before we see the new look, here is every era of Baltimore Ravens uniforms, from the inaugural season through the 2024 Purple Rising alternates.

1996: The Inaugural Set

When the Ravens arrived in Baltimore in 1996, they debuted a purple, black, and white color scheme that immediately set them apart from the rest of the league. The purple jerseys featured white numbers outlined in gold, black pants with a white stripe, and the original flying raven logo on the helmet. The winged shield on the chest was the centerpiece. For a brand new franchise, the Ravens came out with one of the strongest visual identities of the 1990s. Jonathan Ogden and the rest of that inaugural roster wore these on day one.

2000: Super Bowl XXXV

By 2000, the Ravens had already made several updates. The helmet logo changed from the original flying raven to the redesigned purple bird-head logo in 1999. The shield logo replaced the raven-in-flight on the sleeves, and the number font was updated with an italicized style. The Ravens wore their white road jerseys when they beat the Giants in Super Bowl XXXV in January 2001. This was the uniform that a historically dominant defense wore while allowing only one total touchdown across four playoff games.

2004: The Black Alternate

The Ravens introduced their black alternate jersey in 2004, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Ray Lewis wearing number 52 in all black at M&T Bank Stadium under the lights was one of the most intimidating images in football. The black jersey featured a purple collar with gold and purple number outlines and purple sleeve bases. It was simple, it was mean, and it fit the personality of that defense perfectly.

2005: 10th Anniversary

The Ravens celebrated their 10th anniversary in 2005 with a commemorative patch on the front of the jerseys. The overall template stayed the same, but solid black socks were adopted as the standard. Terrell Suggs and the next generation of Ravens defenders wore essentially the same look that won the Super Bowl a few years earlier. The consistency was a strength. This was still a Reebok-era uniform, and the fit and fabric reflected that era of NFL jerseys.

2007: Black Cleats

A small but noticeable change in 2007: the Ravens switched from white cleats to black. It sounds minor, but it changed the overall look of the uniform on the field. The black cleats tied the bottom half of the uniform together with the black socks and gave the whole set a darker, more cohesive feel. The purple jersey with white pants remained the signature home combination.

2008: Flacco Arrives and New Combinations

Joe Flacco's arrival in 2008 coincided with the Ravens expanding their uniform combinations. The white road jersey with purple numbers and gold accents became closely associated with Flacco and some of the biggest playoff moments in Ravens history.

The 2008 season also introduced the black jersey with white pants combination, giving the Ravens another look in their rotation. The black pants returned with the white jersey as well, giving Baltimore more flexibility than they had ever had with their uniform options.

2009: White on White Returns

The white jersey with white pants combination returned part-time in 2009. Ray Lewis and the defense looked clean in the all-white road set. The purple and gold numbering popped against the white base, and the overall look was sharp. It was a classic road uniform that still holds up today.

2010: Purple and Black Restored

The purple jersey with black pants was restored as a regular combination in 2010, and the Ravens wore six different uniform combinations throughout the season. The purple and black together was a tougher, more aggressive look compared to the purple and white. It became a signature look for the late Reebok era and carried over into the Nike years.

2012: Nike Takeover and Super Bowl XLVII

In 2012, Nike took over as the NFL's uniform provider, replacing Reebok. The overall design stayed the same, but the Nike template changed the fit, the fabric, and the collar construction. The Ravens added an Art Modell commemorative patch to honor their late owner.

The biggest moment of the Nike era came immediately. The Ravens won their second Super Bowl in February 2013, beating the 49ers in the famous "Blackout Bowl" in New Orleans. Jacoby Jones' kick return is one of the most iconic plays in Super Bowl history, and he did it in the white Nike jersey with the Super Bowl XLVII patch on the chest.

2013: Nike Collar Update

Nike updated the collar design in 2013 to match each jersey color. The purple jersey got a purple collar, the white got a white collar, and the black got a black collar. It was a subtle change but it gave each jersey a more finished look. The 2014 playoff run, including that incredible divisional round game against the Patriots, was played in these purples. Seeing this uniform brings back memories of Flacco, Suggs, and that late-career Ravens defense.

2015: 20th Season and Gold Pants

The Ravens celebrated their 20th season in 2015 with a commemorative patch and a brand new addition to the uniform rotation: gold pants. This was the first time Baltimore had ever worn gold pants, and the purple jersey with gold bottoms was a departure from anything the team had done before. The gold added a warmth and richness to the color scheme that the standard white or black pants never had. It proved that the Ravens' color palette had more range than most people gave it credit for.

2016: Color Rush All-Purple

The NFL's Color Rush initiative gave the Ravens one of their boldest looks ever. The all-purple uniform featured gold numbers outlined in white and matched purple pants, creating a head-to-toe purple look that was unlike anything the franchise had worn before. Fans were split on it at first, but looking back, this was one of the more successful Color Rush combinations in the league.

2018-Present: The Lamar Era

When Lamar Jackson took over as the starting quarterback, the Ravens uniform took on a whole new energy. New purple pants with a black and white stripe debuted in 2018, and the team wore ten different combinations throughout that season alone. The same jerseys that Flacco wore suddenly looked different on a player who moved the way Lamar does. The white road jerseys became some of the most-seen uniforms in the NFL thanks to Lamar's MVP seasons and the Ravens' consistently deep playoff runs.

In 2024, the Ravens introduced "Purple Rising" alternate helmets that debuted against the Bengals on November 7, worn with the Color Rush uniforms. The roster had turned over to a new generation of stars like Zay Flowers, but the core uniform remained largely the same. After nearly 30 years on the same basic design language, it was clear that a change was coming.

What Comes Next: April 16, 2026

The Ravens have announced that brand new uniforms are coming on April 16, 2026, under the campaign name "The Next Flight." After 30 years of the same fundamental design, this will be the most significant uniform change in franchise history.
