Every Houston Astros Jersey in 2026, Ranked: The White 'Stros' City Connect Leads a Navy-and-Orange Closet

ColorWay Sports·

The Astros run a five-jersey rotation in 2026 built entirely around navy and orange, and it is a solid, cohesive closet without a single weak identity in it. It is also a closet without a real showstopper. Every one of these looks is somewhere between fine and good, nothing is offensive, and nothing quite breaks into the A tier for us either. The headline change is the City Connect: the beloved all-navy "Space City" kit is gone, retired after 2024 and replaced by an almost entirely white "Stros" design.

Here is every Houston Astros jersey and uniform for 2026, ranked worst to first and graded.

5. Navy Alternate

C

The navy alternate is the most forgettable look in the closet. It is a navy jersey with "Astros" stitched across the chest in orange, a nod to the 1970s when the team last wore the club name in orange on a colored top, and it has settled in as Houston's customary Sunday jersey. There is nothing wrong with it, exactly. It is just the one top here that does not add much, a dark counterpart to the orange that ends up feeling like the safe, understated option every time it comes out. It gets a C.

4. Road Grays

ColorWay Sports Grade
C+

The road gray is exactly what you would expect, "HOUSTON" across the chest in navy with orange trim, names on the back, and the navy cap with the orange brim that the team saves for the road. It is clean and it does its job, but it is also the definition of a workmanlike road set, the look that exists to let the home team's colors be the star. A perfectly fine gray that grades a notch above the navy at a C+, mostly because the city wordmark and the road cap give it a little more to work with.

3. Home Whites

ColorWay Sports Grade
B-

The home white is Houston's foundation and its most recognizable look, a clean white jersey with "Astros" arched across the chest in orange script, the H-and-star tucked into the wordmark, and the navy cap on top. The navy-orange-white scheme has aged beautifully since 2013, and the team is right to leave it almost entirely alone. It gets a B-, which is a compliment more than a knock, it is a good, classic home flannel. It just plays things safe enough that a couple of the bolder looks in this closet edge past it for us.

2. Orange Alternate

B

The orange alternate is the jolt of color the rotation needs, a vivid orange jersey with navy and white piping and "Astros" across the chest, leaned on heavily for Friday games at home and on the road. This is the boldest everyday top the Astros own and a direct line back to the franchise's brightest color, and it is the look we are always happiest to see come out of the closet. It gets a B and sits in a near-tie at the top, the classic counterweight to the City Connect just ahead of it.

1. City Connect — The White "Stros" Kit

ColorWay Sports Grade
B

The white "Stros" City Connect is the most distinctive thing in the closet, and by the narrowest of margins it is our favorite. Unveiled in 2025 as a full reinvention of the program, it is an almost entirely white uniform with "Stros" across the chest, the first time the team has embraced the fan-driven nickname. A broken orange star anchors the front, lunar-pattern details and pinstriping run through it, "HTX" is stitched at the beltline, and the only real pop of color lives in the "afterburner" socks, a fiery orange-and-yellow gradient that winks at the old tequila-sunrise rainbow. It owns every Monday home game.

We will be honest that we still miss the navy "Space City" set it replaced, which is part of why this lands at a B rather than higher. But taken on its own, the "Stros" kit is a genuinely creative, place-specific jersey that says Houston without shouting it, and it just edges the orange for the top spot in a closet where the alternates outshine the classics.

The Bottom Line on the Astros Jersey Rankings

The Astros own a tidy, cohesive navy-and-orange closet where the interesting part is that the alternates beat the classics. The white "Stros" City Connect and the vivid orange alternate are the two looks we most want to see, both landing at a B in a near-tie at the top, while the reliable home white sits just behind them at a B-.

The bottom of the closet is more about anonymity than failure. The road gray does its job and the navy alternate is perfectly fine, they just do not bring much personality to a rotation that could use a little more of it. It is a good set of uniforms without a great one, and the thing keeping the Astros out of the A tier is the same thing that made the old "Space City" kit so beloved: this closet is missing a real signature look.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many jerseys do the Astros have in 2026?

Five in active rotation: the home whites, the road grays with the "HOUSTON" wordmark, the orange alternate, the navy alternate, and the white "Stros" City Connect. The navy "Space City" City Connect was retired after 2024 and is no longer worn.

What is the best Astros jersey?

We rank the white "Stros" City Connect first, in a near-tie with the orange alternate, and grade both a B. The "Stros" kit is the most distinctive, place-specific look in the closet, worn for Monday home games, though nothing in the Astros' rotation quite reaches the A tier for us.

What happened to the Astros "Space City" City Connect?

It was retired after the 2024 season. The all-navy "Space City" City Connect, with its NASA-worm-style orange lettering and rainbow gradient piping, was one of the most popular alternates in baseball, but Houston shelved it and replaced it with the new white "Stros" design for 2025. The navy you see now is the regular navy alternate, a different jersey entirely.
