Four NBA teams are reported to be getting new uniforms for the 2027-28 season: the Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers and San Antonio Spurs. The biggest headline is purple. The Raptors are reported to be switching their Statement jersey from black to purple, the color the franchise wore when it started in 1995.
Not all of this is equally solid. One of the four teams has executives on the record. One has a team announcement that covers part of it. Two rest on a single leak that no team has confirmed. We sorted it out team by team, so you know what is real.
Where the Four-Team Report Came From
The list traces back to ProLine Mockups, a jersey design account on X, which posted around October 11 that the Pacers, Spurs, Raptors and Wizards "will have new uniforms next season." It did not say where the information came from. Raptors HQ, SB Nation's Raptors site, and Sports Illustrated's Pacers site both picked it up within two days, and both said it was not confirmed.
The account has a mostly good record. It correctly called this season's Rockets and Timberwolves changes and the ABA-themed Classic Edition uniforms that four former ABA teams released on October 12. It has missed before, too, on a Hawks prediction. So treat the list as a credible leak, not an announcement.
The timing fits how the NBA works. Teams file new logos and uniforms with the league about two years before they debut, because licensed merchandise needs that long to get made. A team planning a 2027-28 change would be deep in that process right now.
Toronto Raptors: Is Purple Coming Back?
What is reported: the Raptors' Statement Edition, the black jersey with red trim, switches to purple with red trim for 2027-28 on the same design: the staggered TORONTO wordmark, the red accents and the claw-mark details. It is a color change on one jersey, not a full rebrand, and nothing in the report brings back the original dinosaur logo. ProLine also said the team told manufacturers to stop making the black version by the end of 2026. That detail comes only from ProLine.

What is confirmed: nothing yet. We found no statement from the Raptors, MLSE, the Toronto Star, Sportsnet or TSN.
Why it would make sense: purple is the Raptors' original color. The team wore it from its first season in 1995 into the mid-2000s, and fans have asked for it ever since. It returned for the 30th-season Classic Edition in 2024-25, and the 2026-27 City Edition, the returning Dino Dunk design, carries purple trim. The current black Statement has been around since 2020-21, which is a normal lifespan for a Statement jersey. A purple Statement would give Toronto a purple jersey every season, not just on special nights.
Our take: we would love it. Purple and red is one of the most distinct color pairs the NBA has ever had, and a Raptors team that wears it regularly would stand out in a league full of navy, black and red. The current Raptors closet and every 2026-27 date is in our Raptors uniform schedule.
Washington Wizards: A Rebrand Is on the Table
What is reported, on the record: this is the strongest of the four. In mid-October, The Athletic reported that the Wizards are looking at new uniforms, and possibly a new logo and colors, after hearing from fans. Hunter Lochmann, chief marketing officer of Monumental Sports & Entertainment, the team's parent company, said, "We are definitely aiming towards that '27-28 season." That is also when the renovation of Capital One Arena is set to finish.

Another Monumental executive, Jim Van Stone, said the team will be "in the mix of looking at uniform designs," but that a logo change has a longer runway. So new uniforms for 2027-28 look likely. A new logo that same season is less certain.
What is ruled out: the Bullets name is not coming back.
What is only speculation: a return to the blue, bronze and black colors the Wizards wore from 1997 to 2011. Fans keep asking for it, but nobody with the team has said it.

Where they are now: the Wizards have worn red, white and blue since 2011-12, with a red Icon, a white Association, the navy "The District of Columbia" Statement with the D.C. flag, and the Cherry Blossom City Edition. This season they wear the Statement more than any other jersey, 28 games. The full list is in our Wizards uniform schedule.
Indiana Pacers: Pinstripes Everywhere?
What is reported: ProLine said the Pacers' Icon and Association uniforms are "likely" moving to pinstripes in 2027-28, matching the gold pinstriped Statement. Sports Illustrated's Pacers site covered it and said the rumor had not been confirmed. Nothing has come from the team or the Indianapolis Star.

Why it would make sense: Indiana brought back the gold pinstriped Statement this season, the 1990s Reggie Miller-era look, and it is the Pacers' most-worn jersey by far, scheduled for 31 games. The current Icon and Association sets, with INDIANA PACERS wrapped in a ring, get only 23 games between them. If the team is building around the pinstripes, the rest of the closet following them is the logical next step. Every date is in our Pacers uniform schedule.
San Antonio Spurs: The Part the Team Already Announced
What is confirmed: in October 2025, when the Spurs revealed their silver "San Antonio" Statement Edition, the team said its "Go Spurs Go" wordmark would become standard on all of its core uniforms starting in 2027-28. So the Spurs' Icon and Association jerseys are getting at least a new wordmark that season. That is on the record from the team.

What is not confirmed: anything bigger. Talk online of a full rebrand in Fiesta colors is speculation, and we could not find a source for it.
The Spurs' current closet, including the new silver ABA Classic Edition that debuts November 4 against Dallas, is in our Spurs uniform schedule.
When Would We See the New Uniforms?
If the pattern holds, new 2027-28 uniforms get revealed in the summer of 2027, between the draft and the start of the season, with City Editions on their own schedule in the fall. Based on what is reported, expect a Statement swap in Toronto and core refreshes elsewhere, not four teams changing everything at once. We will log every reveal here and in each team's uniform schedule when it happens.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Raptors going back to purple jerseys?
It is reported but not confirmed. A jersey leak account reported in October 2026 that the Raptors' Statement Edition changes from black to purple, with red trim, for the 2027-28 season. The Raptors have not announced it. Purple was the team's original color from 1995 into the mid-2000s.
Are the Raptors rebranding to purple permanently?
Not according to the report. It describes one jersey, the Statement Edition, switching to purple, not a full rebrand, and it does not mention bringing back the dinosaur logo.
Are the Wizards getting new uniforms?
Likely. Team executives told The Athletic in October 2026 that they are aiming for new uniforms in the 2027-28 season, when the Capital One Arena renovation finishes. A new logo may take longer.
Are the Wizards changing their name back to the Bullets?
No. That has been ruled out.
Are the Wizards going back to blue and bronze?
Nobody with the team has said so. Fans have asked for the 1997-2011 blue, bronze and black, but a color change has not been announced.
Which NBA teams are getting new uniforms in 2027-28?
The Raptors, Wizards, Pacers and Spurs are the four teams reported so far. The Wizards change has executives on the record, the Spurs have announced a new wordmark for their core uniforms, and the Raptors and Pacers changes come from an unconfirmed leak.
Are the Pacers getting pinstripe jerseys?
They already have one: the gold pinstriped Statement Edition, back for 2026-27 and worn 31 times this season. The report is that the Icon and Association uniforms are likely to add pinstripes in 2027-28. The Pacers have not confirmed it.
What are the Spurs' new uniforms for 2027-28?
The confirmed part is the "Go Spurs Go" wordmark becoming standard on the core Spurs uniforms starting in 2027-28, which the team announced in October 2025. Anything beyond that is unconfirmed.
Why do NBA uniform changes take so long?
Teams submit new logos and uniforms to the league about two years ahead, so the hundreds of companies that make licensed gear have time to produce it. A full rebrand with a new logo and colors usually takes three to four years from start to finish.
The Bottom Line
The Wizards are the safe bet: executives are talking openly about 2027-28. The Spurs' wordmark change is already announced. The Raptors' purple Statement and the Pacers' pinstripes are credible leaks, but leaks. If Toronto really goes purple, it will be the most fan-friendly uniform move of the year, and we will have it the day it is official.
