Matthew Stafford is going to have the gold NFL shield patch on his jersey this upcoming season after winning MVP. At first we weren't too hip on these commemorative patches, but they've grown on us. It's actually kind of nice to look back at photos from a season and instantly know that was the year a guy won MVP. You see the gold patch and it tells you everything.
It's going to look especially good on Stafford because of the Rams' gold color scheme. The gold shield will blend right in with their uniforms in a way that it wouldn't for a lot of other teams. That's a lucky coincidence for LA.

Speaking of the Rams, we're very interested to see what they do with their uniforms and logo this year. There have been rumors about a rival reset, and honestly, they need one. We hated the gradient numbers. The home uniforms were not great. The bone uniforms were just okay. The only ones we really loved were the throwback away uniforms, those were clean.
If they're going to make changes, here's what we'd want to see: bring the horn back on the side of the helmet as one solid piece instead of the split design they have now. Put the horn back on the sleeve. Get rid of the gradient. That's it. You don't need to reinvent anything, just go back to what worked.
We'll save our full Rams uniform and logo takes for when they officially reveal whatever they're doing. But the gold NFL shield on Stafford's jersey? That's going to look right at home.
