What the Panthers' Hometown Remix Jersey Looks Like
It is the first NHL sweater with coral as its main color. The palm-tree-and-hockey-stick logo from Florida's old shoulder patch takes the chest, set in front of horizontal sunrise bands in orange and gold. The shoulders and lower sleeves are navy, the numbers are big and yellow, and the whole thing is meant to look like a vintage South Florida beach shirt. The sunrise is also a nod to the city of Sunrise, where the arena sits.
Why We Have It 28th
The details are good. The palm-tree logo is a great pull from the archive, and the sunrise bands are a smart way to tell the story. The problem is the base color. The pink-coral body is an eyesore, and it is the first thing anyone sees. On a T-shirt it works. On a full hockey sweater, under arena lights, it is too loud and too pink, and it does not look like the Panthers.
Florida already has one of the best color sets in the league in red, navy and gold. A Remix in navy or red with this same logo and sunrise striping would have been a top-ten jersey.
