UCLA just teased their Jackie Robinson Edition jersey for the 2026 season and we are all the way in on these. April 15 is Jackie Robinson Day across all of baseball, and UCLA, where Robinson starred as a four-sport athlete before breaking the MLB color barrier, is honoring him the right way.

The Jersey

The cream white base with the dark navy "BRUINS" lettering and the number 42 is exactly what this jersey needed to be. No extra colors, no unnecessary details, no trying too hard. Just clean, classic baseball.

We love that UCLA didn't use yellow on these. The Bruins' traditional gold and blue is iconic, but for a Jackie Robinson tribute, stripping it down to just navy and white was the right call. It gives the uniform a timeless feel. It could have been worn in 1947 and it would still look right. Sometimes one main color and white is all you need, and this is a perfect example of that.

The navy piping down the front of the jersey adds just enough structure without being distracting. The Big Ten patch on the right chest and the Nike swoosh on the left keep it modern while the overall design stays rooted in history.

The Hat

The hat is a solid navy with a white "B" in a classic script style. No gold accents, no secondary colors. It matches the jersey perfectly and keeps the whole set cohesive. The simplicity here is what makes it work. This is one of those hats you could wear outside of a game and it would still look great.

The Number

The 42 on the back is bold and clean. The blocky navy numbers on white with the stitched edges give it a premium feel. This is a retired number across all of MLB, but seeing it on a UCLA jersey where Robinson actually played carries a different weight. This is where his story started.

Our Grade: A+

We gave these an A+ because honestly, we can't find a single thing we would change. The color choice is perfect. The simplicity is perfect. The history behind it is perfect. UCLA didn't try to be clever or modern or edgy. They just made a clean, respectful tribute jersey that looks incredible on the field. That's all it needed to be.
