Which NFL team's logo has gone the longest without changing? The Dallas Cowboys. The star has not been touched since 1967.
The rule we used is strict: any change to a team's primary logo resets the clock, even a slightly different shade, a new outline or a redraw. That rule knocks out some famous answers. The Raiders' shield and the Packers' G are both older than people think, and both were tweaked later.
Here are the 10 NFL logos that have gone the longest without any change, counting down to the oldest.
10. New England Patriots: unchanged since 2000

9. New York Giants: unchanged since 2000

8. Baltimore Ravens: unchanged since 1999

7. Las Vegas Raiders: unchanged since 1997
Most people say the Raiders' shield is unchanged since 1964. Not quite. The shine on the pirate's helmet was removed in 1997, so under a strict rule, that's the date. Source: ESPN Uni Watch.
6. Denver Broncos: unchanged since 1997
The orange horse head with the flowing navy mane was unveiled on February 4, 1997. Source: Wikipedia: Denver Broncos.
5. Philadelphia Eagles: unchanged since 1996

4. Green Bay Packers: unchanged since 1980

3. Pittsburgh Steelers: unchanged since 1978 (the debated one)
The Steelmark: yellow, red and blue four-pointed stars beside the word Steelers. The design dates to 1962, and helmet historians document small color shifts through 1978. One blog claims the stars were thickened in 2001, but we couldn't confirm it anywhere else, so we're going with 1978. Source: Steelers.com: logo history.
2. Kansas City Chiefs: unchanged since 1972
The red arrowhead with the interlocking KC. It's been on the helmet since 1963, but it only became the team's primary logo in 1972, replacing the old cowboy-on-a-map design. Source: Wikipedia: Logos and uniforms of the Kansas City Chiefs.
1. Dallas Cowboys: unchanged since 1967
The blue star with a white border and a blue outline. The white border came in 1964 and the outer blue outline in 1967, and the star hasn't been touched since. That's almost 60 years. Source: Wikipedia: Logos and uniforms of the Dallas Cowboys.
The Ones People Will Argue About
The Bears' C. It's been orange since 1974 and would rank around third. But in 2023 the Bears made the orange bear head their official primary logo and moved the C to secondary, so it doesn't count. It's still on the helmet.
The Browns. The helmet has no logo, but the team's primary logo is a picture of the helmet, and it was updated in 2024.
The Colts' horseshoe. It's been around since the 1950s, so many fans will call it the oldest. But the team's blue has shifted over the years and the helmet horseshoe was redrawn in 2020, so it doesn't make a strict list.
Recently changed, so off the list: the Titans got a new primary logo in March 2026 and the Rams refreshed theirs in April 2026.
