3. Black

Black is Carolina's primary home jersey this season, confirmed for six games: the Detroit Lions on Sunday Night Football in Week 4, the Denver Broncos in Week 9, the Baltimore Ravens in Week 11, the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 15, the Seattle Seahawks in Week 17 and the Atlanta Falcons in the Week 18 finale. The helmet and pants are announced during game week, and Carolina has black and silver helmets and black, silver and white pants to pick from.

The jersey is well made and completely anonymous. Half the league owns a black jersey, and in a division where Atlanta just went back to red and New Orleans owns black and gold outright, black is the least distinctive thing Carolina could wear. The all-black version has its fans and it does look sharp under lights. It just does not look like Carolina specifically.

This is where the Panther Blue does its best work outside the blue jersey itself. On white, the process blue trim and the blue cat logo get room to read, and with silver pants the whole look ties back to the silver helmet the way a Carolina uniform should. What holds it down is the same thing that holds the whole set down: every piece is a notch quieter than the colors deserve, and on a broadcast it can pass for several other teams.

It grades a B-. It is a solid road jersey and a more Carolina look than the black one, because the blue is doing the talking.

1. Panther Blue

Panther Blue is confirmed for three home games: the Chicago Bears in Week 1, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7 and the New Orleans Saints in Week 14. Two of the three are division games, which reads like a deliberate choice to save the most distinctive shirt for the teams Carolina plays twice.

The opener showed how to wear it. Carolina came out in the black helmet, Panther Blue jersey and black pants, the same combination it used in the 2024 Germany game and the 2025 home opener, and the black at both ends gives the loud blue hard edges. Chicago won 59-37, but the uniform had a much better day than the defense. With the silver helmet instead, the blue gets a lighter frame that is just as good and more classically Carolina.
