The Texas Rangers' 2026 City Connect uniform has leaked, and we have thoughts.

The new look features a red jersey with "TEJAS" across the chest in a typeface straight out of the late 1980s Rangers era. Down the middle is beige piping, and the jock tag reads "Viva Tejas." The name comes from the Spanish spelling of a Caddo word meaning "friend" or "ally," which eventually became the name of the state itself.
The Jersey: B-
We don't love City Connects in general, and putting a different name on the front instead of just "Texas" is always going to be a tough sell for us. But this one isn't bad.

The red works. The back of the jersey with Langford's #36 is probably the strongest angle. Red on red with the number in the jersey color looks sharp. It's a clean back.

The sleeves have a step fret pattern that ties in with the "T" shape from the wordmark, and that's a nice detail. It gives the jersey some texture without going overboard.
We're still waiting on the hat and pants. That could make or break the full look. A lot of City Connects have strong jerseys but fall apart when you see the whole uniform together.
The Bottom Line
It's a B-. Not bad, not great. The red is a good direction, the retro lettering is a nice nod, and the sleeve details are cool. But at the end of the day, it's still a City Connect, and we're still not fully sold on the concept. The Rangers debut these on April 24 against the A's at home.
