The Texas Rangers officially released their 2026 City Connect jersey today, and the "Tejas" uniform is now out in full. We covered the leak in our earlier Tejas breakdown, and the official photos confirm pretty much everything we saw before. The full uniform is here and we have thoughts.

The Jersey

The jersey goes with "Tejas" across the chest in a deep red colorway. The overall look is clean and simple. Maybe too simple. We appreciate that the Rangers did not overthink this, but at the same time there is not a lot here that makes you stop and look twice. It is a red jersey with a wordmark. We would have liked to see some hints of blue worked into the design if they were going to commit this heavily to red. A little contrast goes a long way, and this one just feels like it is missing something.
The design reminds us of the NBA Christmas jerseys from the 2012-13 season. Those were the monochrome kits that went with a single-color look from head to toe. They were fine, but they were not memorable. This Rangers City Connect has that same energy. It looks good in photos but it does not jump off the screen.

The Back and Pants

The white pants at least help break things up. If the Rangers had gone with red pants to match the jersey, this whole thing would have blended together into a wall of red. The white gives it a little separation and keeps the uniform from looking like a onesie on the field. That was a smart call.
The Papel Picado Patch

The best detail on the uniform is the sleeve patch. It features a papel picado design (traditional Mexican decorative lace) with a Texas state outline inside it. This is the kind of cultural connection that City Connect jerseys are supposed to deliver. The DFW area has a massive Hispanic community and this patch honors that in a tasteful way. We wish the rest of the jersey carried this same level of thought.
The Name

We are never going to love when teams use an alternate name on a City Connect. We would rather see "Texas" or "Rangers" on the chest. We understand why the team went with "Tejas" and the cultural significance behind it, but from a pure design standpoint, using a name that is not the actual team name always feels a little off to us.
The Hat

The hat is actually the piece we like the most out of this whole set. The stitching detail gives it a nice feel and it has a quality to it that the jersey itself does not quite match. This is a hat that fans will wear casually outside the ballpark and it will look good doing it.

Final Verdict
This is a fine City Connect jersey. It is not bad by any means, but it is not exciting either. The patch is great, the hat is solid, and the white pants help. But the overall look is just a little too plain for a program that is supposed to be about creative expression. We wanted more from the Rangers here, and the lack of any blue in a design drowning in red is a missed opportunity.
