Every Colorado Rockies Jersey in 2026, Ranked: Purple Monday Wins Easily and the New City Connect Is a Disaster

ColorWay Sports·

Almost nobody in baseball owns a colour the way Colorado owns purple. It is on the pinstripes, the road wordmark, the cap, and an alternate with its own weekday named after it, and every time the Rockies simply let purple be purple they end up with something good. The gap in this ranking is what happens when they get clever instead. Here is every Colorado Rockies jersey and uniform for 2026, ranked worst to first and graded.

4. City Connect

ColorWay Sports Grade
D

Unveiled in April 2025 and the most conceptually loaded jersey the Rockies own, this replaced the original green-and-white City Connect with a total change of direction. A cobalt-blue top fades into a purple bottom, meant to capture the transition from day to night over the Rocky Mountains, with hits of razor pink and laser orange for a Colorado sunrise. The mountain logo sits on the chest, the numbers carry a ripstop pattern nodding to the ski industry, the jock tag reads "DEN," and the cap is lined with the Denver city flag. Colorado also beat the rest of the league to the pullover style, no buttons. It owns Friday home games at Coors Field.

It grades a D, the lowest mark we have given a Rockies jersey, and the reason is that every one of those ideas is better as a sentence than as a shirt. A gradient is the hardest thing to pull off in a uniform, because a baseball jersey gets seen in motion, from four hundred feet, on a screen, and a colour that changes as it goes down the torso just reads as a mistake in the dye. Worse, the gradient starts in cobalt blue, a colour that is not in this team's palette at all, so the loudest thing on the field is the one thing that does not say Colorado. There is real thought here and some of the details are lovely up close. Almost none of it survives contact with an actual broadcast.

3. Road Grays

ColorWay Sports Grade
B-

On the road the Rockies wear a standard gray set with "Colorado" radially arched across the chest in purple, purple piping on the shoulders, and the black "CR" cap. Using the state name rather than the team name leans into the state-pride angle Colorado has always preferred for its away identity.

It grades a B-, the weakest of the three non-City-Connect looks, and mostly because the purple has been rationed. A thin purple arch and a stripe of shoulder piping on a gray base is the smallest possible dose of the one colour this franchise is known for, and on television it can wash out to the point where Colorado looks like anyone else's road team. The radial arch is a nice touch and the state-name choice is the right instinct. It is just a uniform that keeps its best asset mostly in the drawer.

2. Home White Pinstripes

ColorWay Sports Grade
B

The home white is Colorado's signature look: a white base laced with purple pinstripes, "Rockies" arched across the chest in silver trimmed in black, and the black cap with the interlocking "CR." It covers most of every homestand at Coors Field, everything the Friday City Connect and Purple Monday do not claim.

It grades a B. Purple pinstriping is genuinely distinctive, one of maybe two or three home whites in the league you could identify from the stripe alone, and the Rockies have kept it through every refresh since 1993. That restraint deserves credit. What keeps it from climbing is the chest: silver lettering trimmed in black is the most neutral choice available, and on a white base it leaves the wordmark doing very little while the pinstripes do all the identifying. Get purple into the script and this is an easy A-. As built, the best idea on the jersey is running vertically past the second-best one.

1. Purple Alternate

ColorWay Sports Grade
A-

The purple alternate is the franchise's calling card and the closest thing this closet has to a rule. Introduced in 2000 and built like the road jersey with "Colorado" across the chest but no shoulder piping, it became the centrepiece of Purple Mondays in 2012 when the club committed to wearing it every Monday it plays. It also travels well in the literal sense, pairing with white pinstriped pants at home and grays on the road, so it turns up on both sides of the schedule and on days that are not Monday.

It grades an A-, comfortably the best thing Colorado owns. The argument is simple: this is the only uniform in the closet where the team's defining colour is the entire jersey rather than an accent, and the moment purple stops being trim and becomes the whole canvas, everything else falls into place. It is instantly identifiable from any camera angle, which is exactly what the City Connect spent a fortune in concept work failing to achieve. Naming a weekday after it was the smartest thing this franchise has done with its uniforms. Few clubs own a colour this completely, and this is the jersey that proves it.

The Bottom Line on the Rockies Jersey Rankings

The spread here is the widest we have found in any closet so far, a D at the bottom and an A- at the top, and the whole thing comes down to one question: how much purple is on the jersey?

The purple alternate is all purple and it is excellent. The home whites are half purple, carried by the pinstripe, and they are good. The road grays ration it down to an arch and some piping, and they are the most forgettable thing Colorado wears. The pattern is that consistent.

Then the City Connect, which somehow made its loudest colour cobalt blue. It has a genuinely interesting concept behind it, a real sense of place, and some lovely close-up details. It also puts a colour gradient on a baseball uniform and leads with a shade that is not in the team's palette, which is how you end up with the most expensive jersey in the closet finishing last by two full grades.

Colorado does not have a design problem. It has an occasional confidence problem. Every time this franchise trusts purple, it wins.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best Rockies jersey for 2026?

We rank the purple alternate No. 1 with an A-. Introduced in 2000 and the centrepiece of Purple Mondays since 2012, it is the only uniform in the closet where purple is the entire jersey rather than trim, and it is instantly identifiable from any camera angle.

How many uniforms do the Rockies have in 2026?

Four: the home white pinstripes, the road grays, the purple alternate, and the day-to-night City Connect. The black vest is not among them.

What is the Rockies City Connect uniform?

A cobalt-blue top fading into purple, unveiled in April 2025 to replace the original green-and-white version. It is built around the transition from day to night over the Rockies, with the mountain logo on the chest, ripstop-patterned numbers nodding to the ski industry, a "DEN" jock tag, and a cap lined with the Denver city flag. It was also the first pullover, button-free City Connect in the league. We grade it a D.

Are the Rockies bringing back the black vest?

Not in 2026. The sleeveless black alternate that fans associate with the 2007 Rocktober run was shelved when the City Connect program arrived and has not returned to the rotation. A black jersey turning up in the team store this spring restarted the rumours, but the club has confirmed nothing.

When do the Rockies wear their purple jerseys?

Every Monday they play, a tradition that started in 2012. It is not limited to Mondays, though. The purple pairs with white pinstriped pants at home and gray pants on the road, so it can appear on either side of the schedule whenever the staff wants it.
