Bayern Munich's 2026/27 Kits: Back To Classic, Graded

ColorWay Sports·

Bayern have done the sensible thing with the home shirt and something slightly odd with the away. After a few seasons of reaching, the home kit is a deliberate walk back to the classic look. The away revives a crest nobody has seen on a shirt in twenty-five years and then puts it on something that looks like another club's kit.

What Does Bayern Munich's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?

Deep red with tonal vertical pinstripes woven in, gold on the collar and cuffs, white logos, and a gold badge marking the Bundesliga title. Released May 4, the earliest home kit in our group.

We are glad they did this. After a stretch of Bayern home shirts chasing novelty, this is a straightforward deep red with subtle vertical pinstripes and gold trim, and it looks like Bayern Munich.

The gold works here for the same reason it works on Chelsea's blue and fails on Juventus's white: it is sitting on a dark base with plenty of contrast. The title badge is a nice touch and correctly small.

Why only a B rather than higher? Because safe is not the same as excellent. There is nothing here you will remember in three years, and for a club of this size a classic done competently is the baseline rather than an achievement.

Grade: B

What Does Bayern Munich's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?

Mostly white with navy and red, reviving the classic Bayern e.V. crest on a shirt for the first time in nearly twenty-five years, plus the adidas Trefoil. Released July 20.

Footy Headlines called this their best change kit in years, and the crest revival genuinely is a lovely piece of archive work. Bringing back the e.V. badge after a quarter of a century is the kind of detail that means something to the people who notice it.

Our issue is simpler and harder to get past: it looks a lot like Real Madrid's home shirt. White with dark trim and a navy collar is not a Bayern silhouette, and when the two shirts are side by side in a Champions League group stage that is going to be a problem.

A great detail on a shirt that forgot whose it was.

Grade: B-

The Third Shirt: Not Yet Released

Bayern's third kit is due this month. It is a navy base with an all-over pattern hiding references to four moments in club history, with orange-red adidas logos. On paper it is the most interesting of the three. We grade it once it launches.

The Longest Kit Partnership In Football

Worth noting for context: adidas have supplied Bayern Munich since 1965, which makes it comfortably the longest continuous kit partnership among Europe's biggest clubs, and one of the longest in world sport.

adidas also own a stake in the club. That relationship is part of why Bayern's kits tend towards the conservative, and this season's return to a classic red is that instinct working in the club's favour.

Who Makes Bayern Munich's Kits?

adidas, who have supplied Bayern Munich since 1965.

The Bottom Line

Bayern's 2026/27 home shirt is a welcome return to a classic deep red with tonal pinstripes and gold trim, graded B, though safe rather than special. The away revives the Bayern e.V. crest for the first time in twenty-five years, which is lovely, but the white-and-navy result looks too much like Real Madrid's home shirt. Wardrobe grade: B.
