AC Milan's 2026/27 Kits: The Stripes Are Back, Graded

By Jake Daneshgar·

AC Milan have the widest internal gap of any club in Europe this season. The home kit is one of the three best shirts released anywhere, an A. The away and the new third, out August 7, are both B-. Milan almost always do a really good job of this, and the reason is that they never overthink the home shirt. Everything else, they overthink.

What Does AC Milan's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?

The thick red and black stripes are back, bold and wide, running across the full body front and back, with white shorts, black socks, a monochrome badge and a wax seal enshrining the Rossoneri crest at the back neck.

This is the second-best shirt of the 2026/27 season on our ranking and it earns it by doing nothing clever.

The stripes are the whole thing. They are wide, they are properly bold, and crucially they carry across the back as well as the front, which is where recent Milan shirts have gone thin. Pair that with white shorts and black socks and you have the version of this kit that people picture when they think of Milan.

The wax seal at the back neck is a nice piece of finishing you will never see on television, and the monochrome badge is the right restraint.

Grade: A

What Does AC Milan's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?

White with red trim, built as a tribute to the 2007 Champions League win in Athens.

The concept is fine and the reference is a good one. Milan winning in Athens is worth commemorating.

The execution is where it slips. The graphic treatment on the body does not land, and for a club that is usually immaculate this is the weak link in an otherwise strong pair. A plain white shirt with red trim would probably have graded higher than this attempt at saying something.

Grade: B-

What Does AC Milan's 2026/27 Third Kit Look Like?

Black, with fluorescent red detailing that PUMA engineered to react to UV light, so the shirt shifts character depending on how it is lit. Milan called the idea "Rossoneri in a new light". Released August 7, with its first outing the following day against Chelsea in Jakarta.

The trick is real, which is more than you can say for most kit technology announcements, and it is the cleverest single idea in any European kit this season. The red is a good red too, more intense than Milan usually go, and pushing red ahead of black is a defensible way to make a third shirt feel like its own thing rather than a recoloured away.

The base is the problem. Milan on black is already a dark shirt, and the UV detailing only pays off under the right lighting, which is a narrow set of conditions. Most of the time, in daylight or under standard floodlights, you are looking at a very dark jersey with red trim on it. We like this shirt. We just wanted to be able to see more of it more often.

A note on sourcing: an image circulated for months claiming to be this kit, showing a charcoal grey shirt with pinkish-red logos. That was not it. The released shirt is black with fluorescent red, and the leak was wrong on both counts.

The Widest Gap In Europe

An A home shirt with a B- away and a B- third behind it is the biggest spread of any club in our ranking. That is a strange thing for Milan specifically, because their identity is one of the most clearly defined in football and the change shirts are the one place they consistently lose the thread.

It is worth noting the pattern across the whole season: six of our seven B- grades were change kits, and both C+ grades were change kits too. Milan are not alone here. Clubs used the away and third shirts as the experiment this year and it mostly did not work.

Who Makes AC Milan's Kits?

PUMA, who have supplied AC Milan since 2018.

The Bottom Line

AC Milan's home shirt is the second-best kit of the 2026/27 season, an A, built on restored thick red and black stripes that finally carry across the back as well as the front. The Athens-tribute away shirt is a B-. The third, out August 7, is black with fluorescent red that reacts to UV light, which is the cleverest idea in any European kit this season and also too dark to enjoy most of the time, and it is a B- as well. The gap between the home and the other two is the widest of any club in Europe. Wardrobe grade: B.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are AC Milan's 2026/27 kits?

The home shirt has thick, wide red and black stripes running across the full body front and back, with white shorts, black socks and a wax-seal crest at the back neck. The away is white with red trim, a tribute to the 2007 Champions League win. The third, released August 7, is black with fluorescent red detailing that reacts to UV light. All three are made by PUMA.

What grade do AC Milan's 2026/27 kits get?

The home shirt gets an A and is the second-best kit of the season in our European ranking. The away and the third both get a B-. The wardrobe grade is a B.

What is the AC Milan 2026/27 third kit?

A black shirt with fluorescent red detailing engineered to react to UV light, so it changes character depending on how it is lit. PUMA and Milan launched it on August 7, 2026 under the line "Rossoneri in a new light", and it debuted the next day against Chelsea in Jakarta. We graded it a B-. The UV idea is the best piece of thinking in any European kit this season, but the black base is dark enough that you rarely get to see it work.

Why are the AC Milan 2026/27 home stripes wider?

PUMA restored the thick, bold striping and, more importantly, carried it across the back of the shirt as well as the front. Recent Milan home kits had thinned the stripes or dropped them on the reverse, so this is a return to the proportions people associate with the club.

What is the AC Milan 2026/27 away kit based on?

The 2007 Champions League final win over Liverpool in Athens. The shirt is white with red trim and carries a graphic treatment referencing that night.

What is the wax seal on the AC Milan shirt?

A wax-seal detail at the back neck enshrining the Rossoneri crest. It is a finishing touch rather than a visible design feature.

Who makes AC Milan's kits?

PUMA, who have supplied AC Milan since 2018.
