Inter's 2026/27 Kits: A Baseball Away Shirt, Graded

ColorWay Sports·

Inter did two interesting things this season and neither quite landed. The home shirt brings back a collar and honours the 1998 kit. The away is built on American baseball, which we are the last people to object to. Both end up in the middle of our European ranking.

What Does Inter's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?

Black and Lyon Blue honouring the 1998 shirt, with University Gold detailing, the collar returning, and graphics referencing Milanese tailoring through tailors' scissors.

The shirt itself is good and the 1998 reference is a strong one. Lyon Blue is a more interesting blue than Inter's recent shirts have used, the gold detailing is well judged, and the tailoring-scissors motif is a genuinely clever nod to Milan as a fashion city rather than just a football one.

The collar is what holds it back for us. On a kit this close to being excellent, it is the detail we keep returning to, and not in a good way. It sits awkwardly against the stripes and it is the one element that stops this being an A- shirt.

Everything else here is right. That is what makes the collar frustrating rather than merely disappointing.

Grade: B

What Does Inter's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?

Built on baseball. White with navy pinstripes, a giant monogram of the inner Inter crest and "Inter Milano" lettering inside the collar. Released July 17 under the line "Born from the diamond."

We are the last people who will object to a football club borrowing from baseball, and the pinstripes are executed well. Navy on white with proper pinstripe spacing is a look with a century of pedigree behind it.

It just never quite tips over into something we love. The giant monogram is doing a lot of work and the shirt reads more as a concept than as an Inter kit. Take the crest off and this is a baseball jersey, which is charming as an idea and a problem as a football shirt.

A good execution of an idea we are not fully sold on.

The Third Shirt: Not Yet Released

Inter's third kit is due this month. It is Iron Grey, Black and Tour Yellow drawn from the 1997/98 third shirt, with a black horizontal stripe bordered in blue. Between this and the home shirt, Inter are leaning hard on 1998, which is a good year to lean on. We grade it once it launches.

Inter Are Leaning Hard On 1998

Both the home shirt and the unreleased third reference the 1997/98 season. That is a deliberate strategy and a defensible one: 1998 is a genuinely beloved period for the club and the shirts from it are among the best they have worn.

The risk of building a whole wardrobe on one season is that it starts to feel like a costume rather than a kit range. Two shirts in is fine. If the third lands as described, Inter will have three kits all pointing at the same year, and that is the moment it becomes a theme rather than a reference.

Who Makes Inter's Kits?

Nike, who have supplied Inter since 1998.

The Bottom Line

Inter's 2026/27 home shirt honours the 1998 kit with Lyon Blue, gold detailing and a tailoring-scissors motif, and it would grade higher if not for the collar. The baseball-inspired white away with navy pinstripes is well made but reads more as a concept than an Inter shirt. Wardrobe grade: B.
