Washington Commanders Jerseys 2026: Every Jersey Ranked, From the Hail Raiser to the White Primary

Washington rebuilt its entire closet this year, and the result is the best redesign in the NFL. In April the Commanders went back to the look of the Joe Gibbs years: block numbers, burgundy and gold sleeve stripes, and a glossy burgundy helmet with a gold facemask. Then the jersey schedule 2026 added a twist nobody expected. The white jersey, an alternate in 2025, is now the primary, burgundy is the nine-game heritage set, and the all-black "Hail Raiser" gets two home dates.

Here is every Washington Commanders jersey and uniform for 2026, ranked worst to first and graded, with the helmet and pants each one pairs with and the weeks it is on the field.

3. White Primary

ColorWay Sports Grade
B+

The white jersey is the headline of Washington's schedule. It carries burgundy block numbers outlined in gold, a burgundy V-neck collar, and burgundy and gold stripes on the sleeve cuffs, with the numbers repeated on the shoulders. It is a clean, correct piece of design, and the burgundy numbers are the most readable numbers in the closet.

It lands third for two reasons. The thin gold outline mostly disappears against white, so the jersey reads as two colors rather than three, and with so little burgundy below the collar, the burgundy helmet sits on top as the only strong block of color. That helmet is the one piece of this redesign we have questioned, and it is the reason we graded the whole Washington set a B+ in our league-wide ranking. On the white set, nothing else is big enough to share the load.

When it is worn in 2026: six games, five of them on the road. Washington opened in it at Philadelphia in Week 1, then wears it at home against the Giants in Week 5, the only home game in white, and on the road at the 49ers (Week 6), Cardinals (Week 12), Titans (Week 13) and Jaguars (Week 17). It pairs with the glossy burgundy helmet. Washington has said pants are decided the week of each game, and the white was shown with gold, burgundy and white pants. In Week 1 the team went white over white, and that matchup earned a B+ on our NFL uniform tracker.

2. Burgundy Heritage Jersey

ColorWay Sports Grade
A-

This is the jersey that looks most like the franchise fans remember. Burgundy body, white block numbers trimmed in gold, and gold and white stripes on the sleeves that match the striping on the pants. With gold pants underneath, it is a near copy of the Super Bowl era uniform, and it is the set Washington spends on its division games.

It grades higher than the white because the burgundy helmet finally has company. Helmet and jersey form one block of color, the gold pants give the uniform a warm floor, and the gloss on the shell catches the light instead of blending in. We graded the burgundy set an A at the April reveal. We have it one notch lower here for the same helmet question that held Washington to a B+ in our league ranking: the stripes and colors are right, but the logo on the side still is not the one this uniform was built around.

When it is worn in 2026: nine games, the most of any Washington jersey. At home it goes against the Seahawks (Week 3), Eagles (Week 8), Rams (Week 9), Texans (Week 14) and Cowboys (Week 18), plus the Week 4 game against the Colts in London. On the road it goes to Dallas in Week 2, the Giants in Week 10 and Minnesota in Week 16. It pairs with the glossy burgundy helmet and gold facemask, and gold pants are the look it was revealed with, though Washington picks pants game by game.

1. "Hail Raiser" Black Alternate

ColorWay Sports Grade
A

We usually push back on black alternates, because most of them could belong to any team. The Hail Raiser is the exception, and it is the best uniform Washington owns. The black jersey carries burgundy block numbers outlined in gold and gold and burgundy sleeve stripes, so the franchise colors stay in charge instead of being swallowed. Black pants carry the same stripe treatment.

The helmet is the difference. It is a black shell with the new Spear W on both sides, a W and a spear woven together at the center, pulled from the franchise's 1960s uniforms. From the front the two spearheads face the camera, and it is the best new alternate helmet of the year after the Rams' white shell; we graded it an A- in our 2026 alternate helmet rankings. Because it swaps out the primary logo, the Hail Raiser avoids the one issue we have with the rest of the closet. It keeps the A we gave it at the reveal.

When it is worn in 2026: twice, both at home. Week 11 against the Bengals on Monday, November 23, and Week 15 against the Falcons on Sunday, December 20. Two dates keeps it an event rather than a habit.

The Bottom Line on the Commanders Jersey Rankings

Three jerseys, and there is no weak one. The Hail Raiser is an A because its Spear W helmet solves the only real problem in the redesign. The burgundy set is an A- that looks like the Super Bowl years. The white primary is a B+ that reads cleanly but leaves the burgundy helmet carrying the whole uniform.

The takeaway is that Washington is one decision away from the top tier. Everything from the collar down is already among the best in the league. Settle the helmet, and the white and burgundy sets could move up to join the Hail Raiser.

Frequently Asked Questions

What jerseys do the Commanders have in 2026?

Three: the white primary, the burgundy heritage jersey, and the all-black Hail Raiser alternate. All three came from the redesign revealed on April 15, 2026, and all three are on the 2026 schedule. The white goes six times, burgundy nine and the Hail Raiser twice.

What is the best Commanders jersey?

We rank the Hail Raiser first with an A. Its black jersey keeps burgundy and gold in the numbers and stripes, and the black helmet with the Spear W is one of the best new helmets in the league this year.

What jersey are the Commanders wearing this week?

In Week 2, Washington visits the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, September 20, at 4:25 ET. Dallas has confirmed its all-white Color Rush, so Washington is projected in the burgundy jersey under the burgundy helmet, with gold pants our read. That is a projection until kickoff. In Week 1 at Philadelphia, the Commanders wore the burgundy helmet, white jersey and white pants.

Do the Commanders have a new jersey in 2026?

Yes, the whole set is new. Washington revealed a full redesign on April 15, 2026, built on the Super Bowl era look: block numbers, burgundy and gold sleeve stripes, a glossy burgundy helmet and a new black Hail Raiser alternate. The white jersey, worn three times as an alternate in 2025, was promoted to primary. The original Commanders uniforms from 2022 are retired and are not on the 2026 schedule.

When do the Commanders wear the Hail Raiser uniform?

Twice in 2026, both at home: Week 11 against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, November 23, and Week 15 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, December 20. It is worn with black pants and the black Spear W helmet.

What pants do the Commanders wear?

It depends on the week. Washington has said pants are chosen during each game week, and the white jersey has been shown with gold, burgundy and white pants. The burgundy jersey was revealed with gold pants, and the Hail Raiser uses black pants.
