Atletico Madrid's home shirt is always nice, and the reason is always the same: they keep it simple. The 2026/27 version is no different and it grades accordingly. The away shirt goes the other way and pays for it.
What Does Atletico Madrid's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?
Red and white vertical stripes carrying a tonal trident pattern for Neptune's fountain, with deep royal blue framing a V-neck collar. Released on June 29, one of the earliest launches in Europe.
The trident is the detail worth praising, and specifically the restraint in how it is applied. It is there if you look for it and invisible if you do not, which is exactly how a tonal pattern should behave. Compare that to the clubs this season who built an entire shirt around a concept and ended up in the bottom half of our ranking.
The royal blue framing the V-neck is the other good decision. Atletico's blue is a genuine third colour rather than a trim afterthought, and using it to define the collar gives the stripes a boundary.
Simple, correct, and it will look the same in five years.

What Does Atletico Madrid's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?
Black with neon green accents, released on May 18, the earliest launch of any kit in our ranking.
Atletico usually get change kits right by keeping them quiet, and this one goes the other way.
The neon is a lot, and more importantly it does not have a reason to be there. Neon green is not an Atletico colour, it is not referencing anything in the club's history, and it does not pair naturally with the red and blue they use everywhere else. Strip the crest off and this could belong to anyone.
Not a disaster. Just not for us, and a strange departure from a club that is normally so disciplined.

Atletico Launched Earlier Than Anyone
Worth noting for anyone tracking release cycles: Atletico put their away shirt out on May 18 and their home on June 29, making them the earliest club in our entire European group. Most clubs launched through July.
That is a commercial decision rather than a design one, but it does mean Atletico fans had both shirts a full two months before Arsenal or Chelsea supporters did.
Who Makes Atletico Madrid's Kits?
Nike, who have supplied Atletico Madrid since 2001.
The Bottom Line

The black away shirt with neon green accents is a B- and a strange departure for a club that normally keeps change kits quiet. Wardrobe grade: B+.
