There was no white on the field at Rice-Eccles Stadium on Saturday. No. 3 Utah wore all red for its Red Out, and No. 9 BYU came to Salt Lake City in all royal blue, helmet to cleats. Two top-10 rivals, two solid colors, one field. It is the best color clash of the 2026 college football season, and we gave it an A+.

What Utah Wore: All Red
Utah posted its uniform on Saturday morning with three red circles: "Home attire 🔴🔴🔴."
- Helmet: red.
- Jersey: red, with white numbers and UTAH across the chest.
- Pants: red.
- Socks: red.
It was also Utah's Military Appreciation game, and the crowd answered the Red Out call. Every photo from the stands is a wall of red.

What BYU Wore: All Royal Blue
BYU's warmup post said it plainly: "all ROYAL head to toe."
- Helmet: royal blue, with the white Y in an oval.
- Jersey: royal blue, with white numbers and white stripes on the sleeves.
- Pants: royal blue, with white side stripes.

Why Neither Team Wore White
In college football the visiting team wears white unless the home team agrees to something else. Utah, at home, chose red for its Red Out, so BYU needed Utah's OK to wear a colored jersey. It got it, and the result is a game with no white jerseys at all.
This is not a one-off. When BYU last played at Utah, in November 2024, it was the same picture: Utah in an all-red throwback and BYU in all royal. In this rivalry, both teams playing in color has become part of the game.

Our Grade: A+
A+. Red and royal blue are about as far apart as two team colors get, and both teams committed all the way, with no white pants or white helmets to break it up. Put that in a full stadium dressed in red, on a sunny November afternoon, with two top-10 teams in the Big 12 race, and it looks like a video game cover. Most rivalry games put one team in white. This one gave fans two full colors, and it is the best-looking matchup of the year so far.
