TCU opened the 2026 season in Dublin against North Carolina, and the Horned Frogs built a uniform specifically for it. The Ireland Uniform Is the Best Thing TCU Has Made in Years

TCU revealed the set on June 15, more than two months before kickoff, which tells you how much the program thinks of it.

The jersey is all black, and the details are where it earns the attention:

The helmet is the detail almost nobody has framed properly. TCU's 2011 Rose Bowl helmet carried a horned frog with a rose in its mouth, from the season the Frogs went 13-0 and beat Wisconsin in Pasadena. For Ireland, the rose has been replaced with a four-leaf clover.

That is a very small change carrying a lot of weight. It ties the biggest win in modern program history to the biggest stage the program has been given since, and it does it without a shamrock-covered novelty jersey. A lesser version of this uniform puts the clover on the chest. TCU put it in the frog's mouth and left the rest alone.

The black base is loosely descended from TCU's 2010 Pro Combat set, which dates the reference nicely: 2010 and 2011 were the two seasons this program was genuinely great.

September 19 vs. Arkansas State, Amon G. Carter Stadium. A new look, announced. TCU teased a "new look this weekend" and then posted the full set: a white helmet with a Frogs script, purple jersey and white pants, to close the non-conference run. ★ Confirmed on the field from the broadcast, exactly as posted. Arkansas State came in black over black, and TCU won 31-7.

October 3 vs. BYU, Amon G. Carter Stadium. Big 12 home opener. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: purple helmet, purple jersey, black pants. BYU wore the royal blue helmet, white jersey and white pants it had announced, per the BYU 2026 uniform schedule. On a rainy night, the game was tied 7-7 in the third quarter before Bear Bachmeier ran 21 yards for the clinching score with 2:06 left, and No. 10 BYU won 17-10. TCU fell to 2-3.

The Bottom Line

TCU spent its one big uniform swing of the year on the game with the largest audience, which is the correct way to use it. Carolina answered with a throwback, so the first game of the season was a costume against a history lesson. The Frog Horn black would be a good alternate on its own.
