BYU Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey and When the Cougars Wear It

BYU wears royal blue at home and white on the road, but the Cougars almost never wear the same full combination twice in a season. They pick a new pairing of helmet, jersey and pants every week and reveal it on the Monday of game week. This is the full BYU 2026 uniform schedule: the royal home set, the white road set, the navy accents, both helmets, and all twelve games week by week. All five games so far are confirmed, BYU is 5-0, and the Notre Dame look is already announced. We update this page every Monday when BYU reveals the next one.

The BYU 2026 Uniform Sets

Nike makes the uniforms. In 2026 they carry a new sponsor patch from Entrata, a Utah tech company that signed with BYU over the summer. BYU has worn a different full combination nearly every game since the pandemic season, so the grid below lists the expected base color for each date: royal at home and white on the road. The exact helmet, facemask and pants come out each Monday, and we swap in the real combination as soon as BYU posts it.

BYU has not announced a 2026 alternate or throwback yet. Its past specials include the 2019 throwback against Washington, the 1996 all-white look it brought back against Kansas State in 2024 to mark 100 seasons of BYU football, the royal-to-black gradient helmet with black uniforms against Notre Dame in Las Vegas in 2022, and the Sailor Coug helmet with the black set in the 2022 New Mexico Bowl.

Starred cells are confirmed and list helmet / jersey / pants. Unstarred cells show the announced or expected color.

September 5 vs. Utah Tech. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: royal helmet, royal jersey, white pants, with a royal facemask. It was the royal home set under the royal helmet, the first time BYU had worn that exact combination since hosting Utah State in 2022. BYU won 63-7 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game kicked off at 6 p.m. Mountain on Saturday, so ESPN's UTC feed lists it under September 6.

September 12 vs. Arizona. ★ Confirmed from BYU's own game photo and the broadcast: white helmet, royal jersey, royal pants, with a white facemask and a royal oval Y on the helmet. BYU asked fans to stripe the stadium in royal and white by section, and the team matched it. BYU wore the same look against West Virginia in 2025 but with a different facemask color, so this exact combination was new. Arizona wore all white, white helmets included. BYU won 28-17 in the Big 12 opener, shutting out the Wildcats after halftime.

September 19 at Colorado State. Announced: white helmet and white facemask, white jersey with navy numbers, white pants. It is BYU's first navy of 2026. BYU last wore this exact combination at Kansas in 2023, its first Big 12 game. The two old Mountain West rivals had not played since 2010, when navy was still BYU's main blue. Kickoff was 5:30 p.m. Mountain at Canvas Stadium in Fort Collins. ★ Confirmed on the field from the broadcast, exactly as announced, in a 41-23 win. Colorado State answered by debuting its green home set, green helmet and jersey over white pants, the first public look at it in the Rams' first adidas season; see the Colorado State 2026 uniform schedule.

September 26. Bye.

October 3 at TCU, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. ★ Confirmed by BYU: royal blue helmet, white jersey, white pants. BYU posted it as "back at it again with the white threads," with a Gameday Threads vs TCU graphic. It is the second straight road game in the white jersey and white pants, but the helmet changes: the white shell from Colorado State gives way to the royal one, so this is the first royal helmet over the white road set this season. TCU is expected in purple for its Big 12 home opener at Amon G. Carter Stadium. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: BYU wore the royal blue helmet, white jersey and white pants, and TCU wore purple. BYU won 17-10 to move to 4-0.

October 9 vs. Iowa State. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet, navy jersey, white pants, not the royal we expected. It is BYU's first navy jersey of 2026, and the broadcast makes the difference easy to see: the jersey reads clearly darker than the royal blue end zones and stadium wall in the same frames. The Big 12 moved this game from Saturday to Friday night, 8:15 p.m. Mountain, BYU's only weeknight game this season, during homecoming week. Iowa State wore the cardinal helmet, white jersey and cardinal pants; see our Iowa State 2026 uniform schedule. Bear Bachmeier threw a 74-yard touchdown pass, and BYU won 24-10 to move to 5-0.

October 17 vs. Notre Dame, LaVell Edwards Stadium, 7:30 p.m. ET (5:30 p.m. Mountain) on ABC. Announced: white helmet, royal jersey, white pants. BYU revealed it on Monday of game week with a Gameday Threads vs Notre Dame graphic: the white shell with royal stripes, a royal facemask and the royal oval Y, over the royal home jersey with white numbers and white pants. It is the royal jersey, not the navy BYU wore against Iowa State a week earlier, and the graphic shows the Entrata patch on the chest. BYU has not worn this exact helmet, jersey and pants combination yet in 2026: the royal helmet sat over royal and white against Utah Tech, and the white helmet went over all royal against Arizona. So there is no special uniform for the biggest home game on the schedule, which BYU's schedule release calls Notre Dame's first trip to Provo in more than 20 years. The last time these teams met, in Las Vegas in 2022, BYU wore black with a gradient helmet. We will star it once we see it on the broadcast. Notre Dame is expected in white; see the Notre Dame 2026 uniform schedule.

October 24 at UCF. White expected. A road trip to Orlando and the Acrisure Bounce House.

October 31 vs. Arizona State. Royal expected. A Halloween game in Provo, with the Sun Devils expected in white; see the Arizona State 2026 uniform schedule.

November 7 at Utah. White expected. The Holy War at Rice-Eccles Stadium, with Utah in red at home. A royal and white BYU against a red Utah is one of the cleanest color clashes in the Big 12.

November 14 vs. Baylor. Royal expected. Baylor is expected in white; see the Baylor 2026 uniform schedule.

November 21 at Kansas. White expected. Kansas wears blue at home; see the Kansas 2026 uniform schedule.

November 28 vs. Cincinnati. Royal expected. The regular season finale and the last home game in Provo.

The Bottom Line

BYU has one of the easiest color rules in the sport and one of the hardest wardrobes to predict. Royal is the default at home and white is locked in on the road. The helmet, facemask and pants change every week. The first five games already show the range: a royal helmet over royal and white, a white helmet over all royal, an all-white road look with navy trim, the royal helmet over the white jersey and white pants at TCU, and a white helmet over a navy jersey and white pants for homecoming week against Iowa State, the first time BYU stepped out of royal at home. For Notre Dame's visit to Provo on October 17, BYU skipped a special look and went with the white helmet over the royal jersey and white pants. We update the grid every Monday when BYU posts the next combination.

Frequently Asked Questions

What jersey is BYU wearing this week?

Against Notre Dame in Provo on Saturday, October 17, BYU will wear a white helmet, royal jersey and white pants. BYU announced it on Monday of game week with its Gameday Threads graphic, and the jersey is royal, not navy. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. BYU's last game was a 24-10 win over Iowa State on Friday, October 9, in the white helmet, a navy jersey and white pants, its first navy jersey of 2026.

What are BYU's football uniforms for 2026?

A royal blue home jersey with white numerals and white shoulder stripes, a white road jersey trimmed in royal or navy, and royal or white pants. BYU uses two helmets: a royal shell with a white stripe and a white shell with royal stripes, both with the oval stretch Y logo. Nike makes the uniforms, and the 2026 jerseys add an Entrata sponsor patch.

Does BYU have a new alternate uniform in 2026?

Not yet. BYU has not announced a throwback or alternate for 2026. It reveals each game's combination on the Monday before kickoff, so a special look could show up with little notice. The Notre Dame game on October 17 looked like the most likely spot, but BYU announced its regular white helmet, royal jersey and white pants for it.

What did BYU wear against Arizona?

A white helmet with a white facemask, royal jersey and royal pants, in a 28-17 win on September 12. BYU asked fans to stripe LaVell Edwards Stadium in royal and white to match. It was the first time BYU wore that exact combination, since its similar all-royal look against West Virginia in 2025 had a different facemask color.

Why does BYU wear a different uniform every game?

BYU started wearing a new combination nearly every week during the pandemic season and kept doing it. With two helmets, two or three jersey colors, several pants options and different facemask colors, the Cougars can go a full season without repeating a look, and they reveal each one on social media on the Monday of game week.

How many games does BYU play in 2026?

Twelve regular season games: seven at LaVell Edwards Stadium and five on the road, with a bye on September 26. The full schedule with the expected uniform for each game is in the grid above.
