West Virginia Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey and When the Mountaineers Wear It

West Virginia opened 2026 in all white for Pat White and has worn a different look in each of its six games, most recently all black for Coal Rush in a 52-31 loss to Arizona on October 10. Next is Cincinnati at home on October 17 for Homecoming, where navy or gold is expected. This is the full West Virginia 2026 uniform schedule: navy, gold, and white jerseys that mix freely with navy, gold, and white pants, a new gloss white helmet, the black Coal Rush set, and a week-by-week outlook for all twelve games. We update this page as each combination is confirmed.

The West Virginia 2026 Uniform Sets

The base sets come from the 2024 Nike redesign, which brought back the crescent shoulder stripe and put the Don Nehlen double stripe on the gold and navy pants. Rich Rodriguez added the glossy navy helmet on his return in 2025, and this summer the program replaced the matte white helmet it had used since 2013 with a gloss version. Every piece is built to match any other, so WVU can run a different helmet, jersey, and pants combination nearly every week, and it announces each one before kickoff. Home games are the variable: navy is the default, gold shows up for Gold Rush, and black belongs to Coal Rush. On the road, WVU wears white. The 2025 old gold 1965 throwback has not been scheduled for 2026.

The Full West Virginia 2026 Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

September 5 vs. Coastal Carolina. ★ Confirmed from the program's game photos: white helmet, white jersey, white pants, the first appearance of the new gloss white helmet, with WEST VIRGINIA across the chest and the navy, gold, navy stripe down the pants. The White Out was "All White for 5," the day West Virginia retired Pat White's No. 5, and fans in Milan Puskar Stadium wore white too. Coastal Carolina wore all teal. West Virginia won 31-24. September 12 vs. UT Martin. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: navy helmet, navy jersey, gold pants, the glossy navy shell with the gold Flying WV over a navy jersey with gold numerals and gold pants with navy side stripes. UT Martin wore white. West Virginia won 52-7.

September 19 vs. Virginia, Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: navy helmet with the gold Flying WV, white jersey, gold pants. The helmet was the open question going in, navy or the new gloss white, and it was navy. West Virginia won 38-27 in the Duke's Mayo Classic, where ESPN listed Virginia as the home team, which put the Mountaineers in the visitor's white. Virginia wore the white helmet, orange jersey and white pants it had announced; see the Virginia 2026 uniform schedule.

September 26 vs. Oklahoma State. ★ Confirmed pregame and confirmed from the broadcast: navy helmet with the gold Flying WV, gold jersey, navy pants for Gold Rush, posted as "GOLD RUSH, Game 4". West Virginia wore gold pants with the gold jersey for Gold Rush last season, and this time went traditional below the belt. Oklahoma State came in with a black helmet, white jersey and black pants. Mike Hawkins Jr. ran for three touchdowns and the Mountaineers led 14-3, but the Cowboys scored 38 of the last 48 points and won 41-24, and West Virginia fell to 3-1 in the Big 12 opener. See what the Cowboys pack on the Oklahoma State 2026 uniform schedule.

October 3 at Iowa State, noon ET on TNT. ★ Confirmed by West Virginia: white helmet, white jersey, navy pants, revealed under the line "Headed to the Heartland, Game 5." It is the first Big 12 road game, at Jack Trice Stadium, and a fifth different look in five games: the white top half from the Pat White opener, with navy pants underneath instead of white. Iowa State has confirmed all cardinal for Homecoming, a cardinal helmet with "Cyclones" in script, cardinal jersey and cardinal pants, so it is white over navy against cardinal head to toe. The Cyclones' side is on our Iowa State 2026 uniform schedule. ★ West Virginia's own game photos match: white helmet, white jersey, navy pants with a gold stripe, worn as posted. Iowa State won a 45-42 shootout in which the teams combined for over 1,000 yards: Aiden Flora accounted for five touchdowns, the go-ahead score coming with 1:57 left, and Beni Ngoyi forced and recovered a fumble with 59 seconds left to seal it. West Virginia fell to 3-2.

October 10 vs. Arizona, noon ET on TNT. ★ Confirmed from the game photos: black helmet, black jersey, black pants for Coal Rush, with WEST VIRGINIA across the chest. Black was expected, since WVU wore the black set for the two previous Coal Rush games, and fans were asked to wear black on Hall of Fame weekend at Milan Puskar Stadium. Arizona brought its Sandstorm set with red pants on its first road trip: red helmet, white jersey with red numbers and red pants. More on the Arizona 2026 uniform schedule. Arizona led 24-17 at halftime and scored 14 in each of the third and fourth quarters to win 52-31, and West Virginia fell to 3-3.

October 17 vs. Cincinnati. Navy or gold expected. Homecoming doubles as Stripe the Stadium, with even-numbered sections and students in gold and odd-numbered sections in blue, so the uniform could lean either way. Navy is the home default.

October 24 at TCU. White expected. TCU wears purple at home, so we expect a clean white-on-purple matchup in Fort Worth. More on the TCU 2026 uniform schedule.

October 31. Bye.

November 7 at Texas Tech. White expected. The Red Raiders pick red or black at home, and WVU should be in white either way. The Texas Tech 2026 uniform schedule tracks their side.

November 14 vs. Kansas. Navy expected. This is Heroes Day during Mountaineer Week, and local coverage expects a helmet decal with the American flag filling the state outline behind the Flying WV. Kansas should be in white, as listed on the Kansas 2026 uniform schedule.

November 21 vs. Houston. Navy expected. Senior Day and the final home game. WVU closed its 2025 home slate in navy helmet, navy jersey, navy pants for True Blue weekend, so all navy is a real possibility.

November 27 at Utah. White expected. A Friday night finale, 9 p.m. Eastern (7 p.m. Mountain) on FOX at Rice-Eccles Stadium. ESPN files it under November 28 because its feed runs on UTC. West Virginia wore the old gold 1965 throwback against Utah last season. Nothing special has been announced for the rematch, and Utah wears red at home, so we expect white.

The Bottom Line

Six games in, West Virginia has shown six different looks: head-to-toe white for the Pat White retirement, navy over gold pants for UT Martin, white over gold pants in Charlotte, the gold jersey over navy pants for Gold Rush against Oklahoma State, white over navy pants at Iowa State, and all black for Coal Rush against Arizona. That is how this closet works. No two WVU weeks need to match, and the program's promotional calendar tells you where the special looks land: gold for Oklahoma State, black for Arizona, a flag decal for Kansas. Road games should stay white, and the first one did: white helmet, white jersey and navy pants at Iowa State. The one set we are still waiting on is Country Roads, which has not shown up yet in 2026. The grid above has every date, and we fill in the stars as each uniform is confirmed.
