UConn Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey and When the Huskies Wear It

UConn had not worn an alternate uniform since 2016, and that streak is over. The Huskies revealed a red jersey in August, the first primarily red jersey any UConn team is believed to have worn, and it debuted on October 3 for Homecoming against Syracuse. This is the full UConn 2026 uniform schedule: the navy home set, the white road set, the new red alternate, and a week-by-week outlook for all twelve games in Jason Candle's first season, including a Friday night game at The Rent. We update this page as each combination is confirmed.

The UConn 2026 Uniform Sets

Everything is Nike, in what the program calls national flag blue and white. UConn moved to this template in 2021, and it is about as plain as a college uniform gets: two colors, clean numerals, no loud striping. That is exactly why the red jersey matters. UConn football has not had an alternate since 2016, when it wore gray sets with chromatic red trim against Syracuse and Temple, the look from the 2015 upset of undefeated No. 19 Houston at Rentschler Field. The program has spent the years since teasing fans on April Fools' Day, and this April it posted a light blue "Husky Eyes" combo that was a joke.

Then on August 26 the real thing arrived. UConn dropped a hype video built around the red zone, "all you see is red," and a photo of defensive back Jayden Davis in the new jersey.

It looks like a standalone jersey. There is no red helmet and no red pants. It was shot with the white helmet and white pants, but for its debut against Syracuse on October 3 UConn paired it with the navy helmet and navy pants.

The Full UConn 2026 Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

September 5 vs. Lafayette. ★ Confirmed from UConn Athletics game photography: navy helmet with the husky head, navy jersey, navy pants, all navy for the home opener and Jason Candle's first game. UConn won 56-7 in front of 31,831 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium and set a school record with 671 total yards.

September 12 vs. Maryland. ★ Confirmed from the CBS Sports Network broadcast: navy helmet, navy jersey, navy pants again. Maryland answered in a red helmet, white jersey and red pants and won 38-14, ending UConn's eight-game home winning streak. We track the other side on our Maryland 2026 uniform schedule.

September 19 at Southern Miss. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet, white jersey, white pants, head to toe white for the first road game of the season at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg. It is the first look at the road set in 2026 after three straight games in navy, and Southern Miss wore all black. UConn won 48-20.

September 26 at Miami (OH). ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet, white jersey, navy pants, a change from the all white at Southern Miss. Miami wore a white helmet, red jersey and white pants at Yager Stadium. UConn led 13-0 in the first quarter, but the RedHawks came back to win 24-21, and both teams are 2-2.

October 3 vs. Syracuse. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: navy helmet, red jersey, navy pants, the debut of the new red alternate, not the navy jersey we expected. Homecoming brought the red top, with navy numbers, under the navy shell with navy pants, and the red matches the red outline on the UConn end zone lettering in the same frame. Syracuse wore an orange helmet, white jersey and orange pants. UConn scored 27 straight points to get back into it and scored first in overtime, but Amari Odom hit Umari Hatcher on 4th-and-goal and ran in the 2-point conversion, and Syracuse won 42-41. UConn is 2-3. Our Syracuse 2026 uniform schedule has the Orange side.

October 10 at Temple. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: navy helmet, white jersey, navy pants. White was expected, and this time the white road jersey came with the navy shell instead of the white helmet UConn wore at Southern Miss and Miami (OH). Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, a 3:45 p.m. Eastern kickoff on ESPNU, and Temple wore its cherry helmet with the white T, cherry jersey and white pants. UConn led 24-17 at halftime and won 34-20 to get back to 3-3. See our Temple 2026 uniform schedule.

October 17. Bye. UConn's only open date.

October 23 vs. UMass. Navy expected. A Friday night at 7 p.m. that UConn is billing as Cancer Awareness and The Rent at Night. UConn's January home schedule graphic had this game on Saturday, October 24, and it has since moved to Friday. A night game against a regional rival is the other natural spot for the red jersey.

October 31 at Air Force. White expected. Halloween at Falcon Stadium, 1 p.m. Mountain time, with Air Force in blue. Our Air Force 2026 uniform schedule tracks the Falcons.

November 7 vs. North Carolina. Navy expected. Noon on CBS Sports Network, and the only Power Four team left on the schedule. UNC is expected in white. See our North Carolina 2026 uniform schedule.

November 14 vs. James Madison. Navy expected. UConn lists this one as Huskies & Heroes, its military appreciation game, and the program has put military decals on the helmet for that game in past seasons. Noon on CBS Sports Network. The Dukes side is on our James Madison 2026 uniform schedule.

November 21 vs. Old Dominion. Navy expected. Senior Day and the home finale, 3:30 p.m.

November 28 at Wyoming. White expected. The regular season ends at War Memorial Stadium in Laramie, kickoff time to be announced, with Wyoming in brown at home.

Here is the home slate the way UConn announced it in January, the first graphic of the Candle era.

When Will UConn Wear the Red Jersey?

UConn has not said, and nothing on the schedule is labeled as a red game. Here is how we read it. The jersey is built for the home crowd, the reveal video is about the noise at The Rent, and college road teams wear white unless the home team agrees otherwise. That points to the seven home dates. Homecoming against Syracuse on October 3 is the obvious debut: the biggest crowd of the year, an old conference rival and a noon national TV window. The Friday night game against UMass on October 23 is the backup, because night games are where alternates look best. Update: it was Homecoming. UConn wore the red jersey with the navy helmet and navy pants against Syracuse on October 3, confirmed from the CBS Sports Network broadcast.

The Bottom Line

Six games in, UConn has worn all navy in its first two home games, all white at Southern Miss, white over navy pants at Miami (OH), the new red jersey with the navy helmet and navy pants for Homecoming against Syracuse, and the navy helmet, white jersey and navy pants at Temple. The red jersey is the story of the Huskies' closet this season. White is locked in for the road games, and navy is the default for the rest of the home schedule. The next date we would circle for red is the Friday night game against UMass on October 23. The grid above has every game with the expected set, and we add a star as each uniform is confirmed.
