Illinois Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey and When the Illini Wear It

Illinois has three jersey colors, a rack of orange helmets and a navy one, and a home crowd that picks a color theme for the big games. This is the full Illinois 2026 uniform schedule: the navy home set, the white road set, the orange alternate, the helmets, and a week-by-week outlook for all twelve games in Bret Bielema's sixth season. Six games in, the Fighting Illini are 3-3: navy over orange in all three early home games, with a patriotic helmet for Duke, white at Ohio State, all orange for Homecoming against Purdue and white again in the overtime win at Michigan State. We update this page as each combination is confirmed.

The Illinois 2026 Uniform Sets

Illinois wears Nike, and the Bielema era has leaned hard on orange: orange pants with nearly everything, orange helmets almost every week, and an all-orange set for the loudest nights. In 2025 the Illini rotated through the block I helmet, wordmark and script helmets, a white jersey with both orange and white pants, the all-orange look and a navy script helmet for the Music City Bowl. We have not seen a new 2026 alternate announced. Big Ten home teams wear color and visitors wear white, so navy is the home default and white travels, but the athletic department's themed home games are worth watching. The Purdue game is a "Hail to the Orange Out" and the Nebraska game is a "Hail to the Blue Out."

The Full Illinois 2026 Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

September 3 vs. UAB. ★ Confirmed from the Big Ten Network broadcast and Illinois Athletics game photos: orange helmet, navy jersey, orange pants. The helmet is the orange shell with the navy block I and a navy and white center stripe. UAB wore gold helmets with white jerseys and white pants. Illinois won 42-23 on a Thursday night at Gies Memorial Stadium. One calendar note: ESPN files this game under September 4 because its feed runs on UTC and an 8 p.m. Central kickoff lands after midnight there. The correct date is Thursday, September 3.

September 12 vs. Duke. ★ Confirmed from Illinois Athletics game photos: orange helmet, navy jersey, orange pants, the same set as the opener with one change on the helmet. The block I on the side was filled with stars and stripes, and an American flag sat on the front bumper, one day after the September 11 anniversary. It was Hall of Fame Weekend and FamILLy Day in Champaign, with a 2:30 p.m. Central kickoff on FS1. Duke was in white and won 31-27.

September 19 vs. Southern Illinois. ★ Confirmed from Illinois Athletics game photos: orange helmet, navy jersey, orange pants, the base home set again. Illinois won the nonconference finale against the FCS Salukis 48-10 in a 1 p.m. Central kickoff on Peacock.

September 26 at Ohio State. ★ Confirmed from the game photos: orange helmet, white jersey, orange pants. Ohio State wore a silver helmet, scarlet jersey and gray pants. The Big Ten opener at Ohio Stadium, 11 a.m. Central on FOX, on the Buckeyes' Hall of Fame Weekend. Ohio State won 42-19, with Jeremiah Smith catching four touchdowns, and Illinois is 2-2. Our Ohio State 2026 uniform schedule tracks the home side.

October 3 vs. Purdue. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: orange helmet, orange jersey, orange pants, so the asterisk won: Illinois went all orange for Homecoming and the "Hail to the Orange Out" in the Purdue Cannon game. Purdue wore the gold helmet, white jersey and gold pants it announced, per the Purdue 2026 uniform schedule. Purdue won 24-17 and took the Cannon, and Illinois fell to 2-3.

October 10 at Michigan State. ★ Confirmed from the game photos: orange helmet, white jersey, orange pants, the same road set Illinois wore at Ohio State. It was Michigan State's Homecoming at Spartan Stadium, 3:30 p.m. ET on FS1, and the Spartans wore their standard home set: green helmet, green jersey and white pants. Illinois led 20-7 at halftime, it was 31-31 after regulation, and Illinois won 38-37 in overtime to get back to 3-3. The Michigan State 2026 uniform schedule has their side.

October 17. Bye.

October 24 vs. Oregon. Navy expected. Military Appreciation and Foundation Weekend. Illinois has already used a stars-and-stripes helmet this season, so a patriotic helmet could make a return for this one. Oregon brings more combinations than anyone in the conference; see the Oregon 2026 uniform schedule.

October 31 at Maryland. White expected. Halloween at SECU Stadium, where the Terrapins are expected in red. The Maryland 2026 uniform schedule covers the home side.

November 6 vs. Nebraska. Navy expected. A Friday night game at 7 p.m. Central on FOX, which ESPN files under November 7. It is Dads Day and a "Hail to the Blue Out," so navy is the easy call, and the navy script helmet from last season's bowl game would fit the theme. Nebraska will be in white; see the Nebraska 2026 uniform schedule.

November 13 at UCLA. White expected. Another Friday night, 6 p.m. Pacific (8 p.m. Central) on FOX at the Rose Bowl, which ESPN lists under November 14. The UCLA 2026 uniform schedule tracks the Bruins in blue.

November 21 vs. Iowa. Navy expected. Senior Day and the final home game, with Iowa in white. Our Iowa 2026 uniform schedule has the Hawkeyes.

November 28 at Northwestern. White expected. The Land of Lincoln Trophy game at Ryan Field in Evanston closes the regular season. Kickoff time to be announced.

The Bottom Line

Illinois wore the same base look in its first three home games, orange helmet, navy jersey, orange pants, and used the helmet to mark the occasion against Duke. Expect navy at home and white on the road at Maryland, UCLA and Northwestern, as it was at Ohio State and Michigan State. The themed dates are the ones that break the pattern: the Orange Out Homecoming against Purdue already brought out the all-orange set, and Military Appreciation against Oregon and the Blue Out Friday night against Nebraska are still to come. The grid above has every date, and we star each game as the combination is confirmed.
