North Carolina Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey, Starting With Dublin

North Carolina opens the 2026 season in Dublin, and it is the first game of the entire college football season. This is the full North Carolina 2026 uniform schedule: the opener combination, the Carolina blue and white sets, the 100th season of Kenan Stadium, and a week-by-week outlook for all twelve games. We update this page as each combination is confirmed.

The Dublin Opener Is the First Game of the Season

Everything about this one is unusual. Kickoff is noon Eastern, 5 p.m. Irish time, on Saturday, August 29 at Aviva Stadium, on ESPN. It is the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, and because it lands in Week 0 it is the first college football game anyone will watch this year.

Carolina has never played outside the United States before. Fifty-seven players on the roster are leaving the country for the first time this week. One of them, punter Adam McCann-Gibbs, is from Northern Ireland and turns twenty-one on game day.

Both uniforms are now confirmed, and Carolina's is the surprise. The Tar Heels are not in their standard whites. The reveal graphic is headed "Throwbacks" under a Jordan Brand lockup: a white jersey with Carolina blue numerals outlined in navy, Carolina blue pants with the NC mark, and a Carolina blue helmet carrying the interlocking NC with navy and white striping. TCU counters in the all-black Frog Horn set.

The two clubs also opened against each other last season, the first time Carolina has opened consecutive years against the same opponent since 1984-85.

The North Carolina 2026 Uniform Sets

The Kenan 100 Season and the 1980 Throwbacks

2026 is the 100th season of Kenan Stadium, which opened in November 1927 and has hosted 551 football games. Carolina is marking it with a commemorative logo built around the Morehead-Patterson Bell Tower set inside the numeral 100, plus a run of stadium upgrades.

The uniform piece of that celebration is a throwback to the 1980 ACC championship team, the 11-1 side that finished ninth in the country and had Lawrence Taylor on it. The throwback runs a Carolina blue helmet with the stairstep UNC mark on the side, two white stripes flanked by thinner navy ones down the crown, a white facemask, and "Carolina" across the chest rather than the current wordmark.

That stairstep mark is worth pausing on. It is the logo Bill Belichick wore on his own sideline gear through his first season in Chapel Hill, before it went anywhere near a jersey.

✅ The 1980 set debuted at home, and it came back for Notre Dame. The white "Throwbacks" look Carolina wore in Dublin carried the interlocking NC, not the stairstep UNC, so the real 1980 set waited for Kenan. Carolina posted "Debuting Saturday" on September 10 and wore it for the home opener against East Tennessee State on September 12, the first game of the stadium's hundredth season. On October 1 the program confirmed it again for the biggest home game on the schedule: "Rocking the 1980 throwbacks Saturday," against No. 3 Notre Dame. A uniform built to mark a hundred years of a stadium belongs in that stadium, and putting it on the Notre Dame game is exactly the right call.

The Full North Carolina 2026 Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

Twelve games, six at home in Kenan's hundredth season, one in Ireland.

Saturday, August 29 vs. TCU, Aviva Stadium, Dublin, noon ET on ESPN. ✅ Worn: the white throwback set, Carolina blue helmet and pants, against TCU's black alternate. Carolina won 15-10.

September 12 vs. East Tennessee State, Kenan Stadium, noon on ACC Network. The home opener and the first game played in Kenan during its hundredth season. ★ Confirmed: the 1980 throwback debut, powder blue helmet with the stairstep UNC, powder blue jersey with "Carolina" across the chest, white pants, against East Tennessee State's navy and gold. Carolina teased it on September 10 with "Debuting Saturday." North Carolina won 35-3 in a game that went to a weather delay in the third quarter.

September 19 at Clemson, Memorial Stadium, noon on ESPN. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: Carolina blue helmet with the interlocking NC, white jersey with Carolina blue numerals, Carolina blue pants, the same white and Carolina blue pairing the Tar Heels opened the season with. Clemson met them in the orange Tiger Paw helmet, orange jersey and white pants, so Death Valley got orange against white with blue at both ends of it. Weather suspended the game in the third quarter with North Carolina ahead 17-15, and Clemson came back after the delay to win 28-20.

October 3 vs. No. 3 Notre Dame, Kenan Stadium, noon ET on ESPN. ★ Confirmed by Carolina: the 1980 throwbacks, powder blue helmet with the stairstep UNC logo, powder blue jersey with "Carolina" across the chest, white pants. It is the second time the Kenan 100 set has been worn, after the East Tennessee State opener, and it gets the biggest home game on the schedule. The game is sold out, and Carolina is unveiling its new Hall of Fame displays at Kenan during the first half. The broadcast matched it: powder blue helmet, powder blue jersey, white pants. Notre Dame wore the gold helmet, white jersey and gold pants. Billy Edwards Jr. threw three touchdown passes and Carolina was within 21-20 in the third quarter, but the Irish kept running the ball in the rain, CJ Carr threw four touchdowns, and No. 3 Notre Dame won 37-26. Carolina is 2-2.

November 28 vs. NC State, Kenan Stadium. Senior Day and the rivalry. Carolina blue expected.

The Bottom Line

Carolina's wardrobe is one of the simplest in the sport and that is its whole appeal: blue at home, white on the road, and a shade of blue nobody else owns. The 2026 season adds one variable, the Kenan 100 throwback to the 1980 ACC champions, and Carolina is using it on the right dates: the home opener, and now No. 3 Notre Dame.

Against TCU's black, the white throwback is the quieter of the two uniforms in Dublin, and it will look better for it. The Horned Frogs brought the costume. Carolina brought the history.
