Toledo changed helmets before this season even started, and the rest of the closet is deeper than most people outside the MAC realize. The Toledo 2026 Uniform Sets

Toledo retired its matte midnight blue shell in May and went glossy, keeping the white TOLEDO wordmark with the gold rocket streaking out of it and giving the equipment staff a gold facemask and a blue facemask to choose from. September 4 at Michigan State. ★ Confirmed from game photography: midnight blue helmet, white jersey, midnight blue pants, the standard road look under Friday night lights at Spartan Stadium. One calendar note: ESPN files this game under September 5 because its feed runs on UTC and an 8 p.m. Eastern kickoff lands after midnight there. The correct local date is Friday, September 4.

September 12 vs. Central Connecticut. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: midnight blue helmet, midnight blue jersey, gold pants, the classic Glass Bowl combination for a game the school billed as the Biggest Party in Toledo. The Rockets won 63-10.

September 19 vs. Temple. Blue expected. Band Day in the Glass Bowl with a 3 p.m. Eastern kickoff, and Temple in white as the visitor.

September 26 vs. San Diego State. Blue expected. A noon start against a Mountain West opponent on UToledo Family Weekend, and the last non-conference home date of the year.

October 3 at Ball State. White expected. MAC play opens in Muncie with a kickoff time still to be assigned.

October 10 vs. Buffalo. Blue expected. Homecoming, which is the traditional slot for an alternate if one exists, so this is the home date we are watching hardest. Buffalo comes in as the designated visitor, so the Bulls should be in white.

October 17 at Eastern Michigan. White expected. A 3:30 p.m. kickoff at Rynearson Stadium.

October 24 vs. Western Michigan. Blue expected. Toledo lists this as Senior Day, which makes sense once you look at the calendar: it is the last Saturday home game of the season, because everything after it is a weeknight or a Friday.

October 31. Bye. Toledo's only open date of the year, and it lands on Halloween.

November 4 at Sacramento State. White expected. This is the strangest date on any MAC schedule in 2026. Sacramento State joined the conference as a football-only affiliate on July 1 after moving up from the FCS, and Toledo drew the cross-country Wednesday night trip to Hornet Stadium in the national MACtion television window.

November 11 vs. UMass. Blue expected. A Wednesday night Salute to Service game in the Glass Bowl, and military appreciation nights are another place a special uniform or helmet decal can appear.

November 20 vs. Bowling Green. Blue expected. The Battle of I-75 on a Friday night at home, the biggest date on the Toledo calendar and the last home game of the season.

November 27 at Ohio. White expected. A noon kickoff in Athens on Black Friday to close the regular season.

What About the Gold Helmet?

Toledo's gold shell is the one piece of this closet with real history attached, and it usually comes out with the gold or anthracite jerseys rather than on its own. The most famous version was the 2017 MAC Championship Game at Ford Field, when the Rockets announced gold helmets with the midnight blue uniforms the night before kickoff and then won the title.
