Marshall Uniform Schedule 2026: Every Jersey and When the Thundering Herd Wear It

Marshall has three helmet shells, one of the best greens in college football, and a brand new logo on the chest. This is the full Marshall 2026 uniform schedule: the kelly green home jersey, the white road set, the green pants that traveled to Penn State, the Marshall Health Network patch that is now on every Herd jersey, and a week-by-week outlook for all twelve games. Six are already confirmed. We update this page as each combination is locked in.

The Marshall 2026 Uniform Sets

Start with the patch, because it is on every jersey Marshall will wear this year. In May the school and Marshall Health Network announced a five-year all-sport jersey patch partnership through Learfield, the first of its kind in the Sun Belt and only the fourth all-sport patch deal in the country, joining Arkansas, LSU and Memphis. You can find it on the left chest in every photo from this season, stacked directly above the conference patch.

The jerseys underneath it are the set Marshall unveiled in June of 2025, a cleaner take on the same green and white the program has worn for decades. The wordmark is an arch rather than a straight line, the shoulder stripes are a green band edged in white and black, and the numerals dropped most of their outline work.

The real story is the helmets. From 2010 through 2021 Marshall wore white and nothing else. Black shells came into the rotation a few years ago, and in August of 2025 the program brought green helmets back for the first time since the 2009 bowl season, using the modern stylized M instead of the old block letter. That gives the equipment staff three shells to work with, and through six games in 2026 they have already used two of them.

The Full Marshall 2026 Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

September 5 at Penn State. ★ Confirmed from Marshall's own game photography: green helmet, white jersey, green pants, the loudest road look in the closet against a white out crowd in Beaver Stadium. Penn State won 45-0. The Nittany Lions wore their standard white helmet, navy jersey and white pants, which you can also find on the Penn State 2026 uniform schedule.

September 12 vs. Middle Tennessee. ★ Confirmed from Marshall's own game photography: white helmet, green jersey, white pants, the classic home combination for the We Are Marshall home opener, with fans asked to wear green for a full stadium green out. Marshall won 28-26 in front of 25,662 at Joan C. Edwards Stadium, stopping a two-point conversion with 50 seconds left to hold the lead.

September 19 at Missouri State. ★ Confirmed: white helmet with the green M and the green and black centre stripe, white jersey with green numerals, white pants. White head to toe, including the shell, which is the part worth noting because Marshall went green at Penn State and has used white, green and black below the belt in recent seasons. ESPN published nothing from the CBS Sports Network broadcast, so this took two sources on Sunday: Marshall's own highlight reel, with the 17-10 second-quarter scorebug in frame, gave the jersey and pants, and Missouri State's game photography gave the helmet. Marshall won 30-24 at Plaster Stadium.

September 26 vs. Gardner-Webb. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet with the green M, green jersey, green pants for Homecoming at The Joan. Gardner-Webb wore white head to toe with red trim. The FCS Runnin' Bulldogs led 35-27 in the fourth quarter, Carlos Del Rio-Wilson hit Xayvion Turner-Bradshaw for a 34-yard touchdown, and Jorge Diaz Nicolas kicked a 32-yard field goal with three seconds left for a 36-35 win. Marshall is 3-1.

October 3 at James Madison. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet with the green M, white jersey, white pants, all white for the Sun Belt opener on the road. James Madison wore the gold helmet, purple jersey and gold pants, per the James Madison 2026 uniform schedule. Marshall led early, but the Dukes scored 28 straight in the second quarter, George Pettaway ran for 206 yards, and James Madison won 45-17. Marshall is 3-2.

October 10 vs. Coastal Carolina. ★ Confirmed from the broadcast: white helmet with the green M, green jersey, white pants, the classic home look for the We Are Herd Strong game, Marshall's annual cancer awareness date, 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Coastal Carolina wore a black helmet, white jersey and black pants. Coastal led 13-0 at halftime and 27-7 after three quarters, Marshall scored 14 in the fourth, and Coastal Carolina won 27-21. Marshall is 3-3. More: Coastal Carolina uniform schedule.

October 20 vs. South Alabama. Green expected. A Tuesday night, 7:30 p.m., which in the Sun Belt means a national television window with nothing else on. Weeknight home games are the kind of slot where a program reaches for something different, and Marshall has a black helmet and black pants in the closet to do it with.

October 24. Open. Marshall plays on a Tuesday night in October and then does not play again until Halloween, which leaves two empty Saturdays in the middle of the schedule.

October 31 at Old Dominion. White expected. Halloween in Norfolk.

November 7 at Georgia Southern. White expected. A November trip to Statesboro.

November 14 vs. App State. This is the one. Marshall hosts App State on the exact anniversary of the November 14, 1970 plane crash for the annual Play For The 75 game, presented by the WV Lottery, with fans asked to wear black. The Herd has worn custom black helmets for this game in recent years, right down to a one-off shell the athletic department auctioned off in 2024 to benefit the We Are Marshall endowment.

The 75 uniform is usually the most carefully designed thing Marshall does all year, and it has been good enough to lead national uniform coverage on game morning.

November 21 vs. Georgia State. Green expected. Salute to Service and Senior Day in the same afternoon, with fans asked to wear white, which sets up the nice inversion of a green home jersey in front of a white crowd.

November 28 at ULM. White expected. Regular season finale in Monroe.

The Bottom Line

Marshall's uniform year is built around one date. Everything from September to early November is a two-color rotation that the home and road rules mostly decide for you, green at The Joan and white on the road, with the pants and the helmet shell as the only real variables. Then November 14 arrives, the black shells come out, and the program puts on the most meaningful uniform in college football. Six games in, the Herd has already used the green helmet and the white helmet, which leaves the black one waiting for the game it was made for. The grid above has every date, and we add the stars as each combination is confirmed.
