The Rays have a road gray again, it debuts Tuesday against the Yankees, and it is the best thing in the closet

Tampa Bay revealed a new gray road uniform with TAMPA BAY arched across the chest in a gradient running light blue into green into yellow, the ray mark beneath it, and navy piping, navy swoosh and a navy helmet with the TB ray. The club framed the set around its commitment to the community.

It is the first traditional road gray the Rays have carried since 2023. They abandoned it and have travelled in the navy and Columbia blue alternates ever since.

It also answers the criticism we have made twice about this wardrobe: the Columbia blue alternate has worn a small sunburst on the right chest instead of a wordmark since 2022, and we called it a gorgeous colour wearing almost nothing. This one puts a full arched wordmark back where it belongs.

It debuts Tuesday, September 22, in the second game of the doubleheader against the Yankees, with a week left in the 2026 season.

I absolutely love these. An A from me. I hope they move in this direction as their main road and their main home, or the white version of these, and I am happy the Rays are going this way.

Miami brings back the 2001 national championship uniforms, and releases both the home and the away

Miami revealed throwbacks of the uniforms its 2001 national championship team wore, in both versions. The orange home set has a green and white shoulder yoke, white numbers outlined in green and white pants. The white road set has a green yoke with orange trim, green numbers and green pants. Both sit under a white helmet with the green and orange centre stripe.

Releasing both halves is the unusual part. A throwback is normally one jersey for one game.

The green pants are what separate the road set from what Miami wears now, which is all white: white helmet, white jersey, white pants, at Stanford and at Wake Forest this season.

No date announced for either. Florida State's October 17 visit is the most likely home slot for a special set.

I like these a lot, and I like that they released both the home and the away versions instead of just one. I wish these were still their primary jerseys. The whites are better than the orange for me: A- on the road set, B+ at home.

North Texas goes Icy Whites at Texas State on Saturday

North Texas announced an all-white set for Saturday at Texas State: white helmet with the green eagle, white jersey with green numbers, and white pants with the green Texas logo. It is the Mean Green's first all-white look under Neal Brown.

North Texas wore green at home in last week's 44-6 win over UNLV and white with green pants at Indiana in the opener.

Great look. I love all white with splashes of color, and the green looks really good on it.

Utah State brings back its 1992 to 1995 logo on a retro helmet for Homecoming

Utah State is wearing a throwback helmet with its 1992 to 1995 logo, the bull leaping through a block U, for Homecoming against Troy on Saturday, September 26. The jersey and pants have not been announced.

It will be the Aggies' fourth different helmet in four weeks, after the cow print in the opener, white at Washington, and navy at Utah this Saturday.

Awesome retro helmet, very, very cool. I love what they did there.

UConn gets a red alternate jersey, its first alternate since 2016

UConn revealed the red jersey in August, the program's first alternate since 2016. The reveal pairs it with the white helmet and white pants. It uses the same template as the white road jersey.

No date has been announced. Homecoming against Syracuse on October 3 and the Friday night game against UMass on October 23 are the likely spots.

I love that they're getting a red alternate. I'm starting to like red jerseys more and more, and I like that it's paired with a white helmet and white pants.
