Buffalo Bills 2026 Uniform Schedule: When They Wear Nickel City, Cold Front, and the Red Alternate

By Jake Daneshgar·
Track the Buffalo BillsNFL

Most teams dribble their uniform news out one week at a time. The Bills did the opposite: ahead of the Return of Blue & Red scrimmage at the new Highmark Stadium, they published the jersey they will wear for every single 2026 home game at once. That means the Buffalo half of this schedule is confirmed, not projected, and it answers the question people actually search for. The new gray Nickel City set goes twice, the all-white Cold Front Rivalries uniform gets Salute to Service against Miami, the red alternate closes the season, and the blue primary carries the other four. Buffalo has since added the road half of the story too: the red helmet returns on Christmas Day at Denver. Here is the full Bills 2026 uniform schedule, week by week.

For our grades on the new gray set and the blue Charge helmet, see the Bills Nickel City uniforms breakdown.

The Confirmed Bills Home Uniform Schedule

Their Week 1 opponent: the Houston Texans 2026 uniform schedule has the other side of this matchup, and the 2026 NFL uniform tracker logs what both teams actually wear once it is played.

All eight home games, straight from the team. This is the part nobody has to guess at.

The Full 2026 Bills Uniform Schedule, Week by Week

Home games carry the confirmed jersey. Road games follow the white road set, with one exception: Houston is wearing white at home in Week 1, so Buffalo opens the season in blue, and the team has confirmed the full combination as white helmet, blue jersey and blue pants. Week 7 is the bye.

What the grid can and cannot promise: every ★ is officially confirmed by the Bills, and that covers all eight home games. Eight of the nine road games are the white road set, which is the standard away look but has not been announced week by week. The ninth is the Week 1 opener at Houston, where the Texans have confirmed their Liberty White uniforms, and Buffalo has confirmed its answer: the white helmet over a blue jersey and blue pants. Pant colors and the exact combinations are an equipment-staff call the week of each game, and the Week 18 date against the Jets has not been scheduled yet.

Nickel City (Gray Alternate, 2 Games, Confirmed)

The new gray set gets two dates, and the pairing is smart. It debuts in Week 3 at home against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 27, for the Huddle for Hunger and Hispanic Heritage game, then returns in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, December 19, a standalone national window with holiday theming. Nickel City is a full monochrome gray jersey and pant, striping rendered in shifting shades of gray, the usual chest wordmark dropped for a logo patch on the left chest. The real story is on top: "The Charge," a royal blue shell with a metallic flake finish and a single red stripe wrapping the helmet to suggest a charging buffalo. We said it at the reveal and it still holds, the helmet is the best thing Buffalo has made in years and the gray it sits on top of is the weakest part of the set. Our full grade is in the Nickel City breakdown.

Putting the second wearing in a Saturday night December game in Buffalo is the correct instinct. If there is snow on the field, the gray reads as industrial rather than flat, which is exactly the argument the uniform is making.

Cold Front (Rivalries, 1 Game, Confirmed)

The all-white Cold Front uniform, Buffalo's entry in the NFL Rivalries program and one of the best-received sets of that first 2025 wave, gets a single 2026 date: Week 11 at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 22, the Salute to Service game. The set is built around a white shell helmet with a metal-flake finish, a frosted metallic charging buffalo, and a center stripe designed to look like cracking ice. Against Miami in late November it is the whole thesis of the Rivalries program in one image, a cold-weather team dressing like the weather and a warm-weather team visiting it. For the wider context, see our explainer on the NFL Rivalries uniform program.

One wearing only is the frustrating part. Cold Front is the highest-graded uniform Buffalo owns and it comes out once.

Red Alternate (Week 18, Confirmed)

Red Alternate

The Bills close the regular season in red against the New York Jets, a home finale carrying the Play 60, Coach of the Week, and high school tackle celebrations. The red jersey is the loudest thing in the closet and it is the right call for a season-ending home game against a division rival. The date has not been set, since the league holds Week 18 for flexible scheduling, so this one moves.

Blue Primary (4 Home Games, Confirmed)

Blue Primary

The blue jersey remains the base, and it draws the four biggest non-alternate home dates on the calendar: the Week 2 home opener against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, September 17, which is also the first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium, then Crucial Catch against the New England Patriots in Week 4, Native American Heritage against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8, and Thanksgiving night against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12. Royal blue over white with the white helmet is the look most people picture when they picture the Bills, and the team clearly wanted it for the moments that matter most. Opening a new stadium in it is the tell.

The White Road Set (8 Games, Expected)

White Road

The white road jersey is the workhorse, projecting to eight of the nine away games: at the Rams, Raiders, Vikings, Jets, Patriots, Packers, Broncos, and Dolphins. The Bills have not published a road-by-road jersey schedule, so these follow the standard NFL convention where the visiting team wears white. Pants are the variable, since Buffalo alternates between blue and white below the waist depending on the week and the opponent.

The exception is the opener. Houston has confirmed it will wear its Liberty White uniforms for Week 1 at Reliant Stadium, and two teams cannot both wear white, so Buffalo is in color for that game. The Bills have now confirmed the combination: the white helmet over the blue jersey and blue pants, the all-blue look below the shell, on Sunday, September 13. It is a rare season-opening road date where the Bills get to wear color, and it comes courtesy of the home team's announcement rather than their own. See our Texans 2026 uniform schedule for the Houston side of it.

Two road dates are worth circling. Week 16 is Christmas Day at Denver on Netflix, where the white set is paired with the red helmet, confirmed by the team on August 25 and covered in full below. Week 17 is January 3 at Miami, which is the game the Dolphins have set aside for their near-black Dark Water Rivalries uniform. We covered why Dark Water divides opinion separately, and a white-clad Buffalo across from it should be one of the better-looking broadcasts of the season.

The Red Helmet Is Confirmed: Christmas Day at Denver (Week 16)

Buffalo made it official on August 25: the red helmet comes back for the Christmas Day road game at Denver, worn with the white jersey and white pants, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern on Netflix.

We had this game flagged as the likely landing spot before it was announced, for the reason the team just confirmed: the red shell is a holiday-game asset now rather than a full-time helmet, and Christmas on Netflix is the largest audience Buffalo will have all season.

The combination is the part worth getting excited about. White jersey, white pants, red helmet is the cleanest way this franchise can dress. The all-white body gives the shell nothing to compete with, so the red reads as the only real color on the field, and it is a straight line back to the 1984 to 2010 helmet that a generation of Bills fans grew up on. It is also the second straight season Buffalo has reached for it after last year's Highmark Stadium farewell against the Jets, which is starting to look less like a one-off and more like a tradition the team is deliberately building.

Worth being precise about what this is and is not: the red helmet is a road-game hardware change worn with the white set. The red jersey is a separate alternate, and that one closes the season at home in Week 18 against the Jets.

Red End Zones for the Home Opener: Bills Mafia Voted

The field at the new Highmark Stadium will not be all new. Bills chief operating officer Pete Guelli said on WGR Thursday morning that the team was thinking about letting fans pick the end zone color for the Week 2 home opener against the Lions, then posted the official poll that afternoon: red end zones, blue end zones, or a white or blue BILLS wordmark. Voting closed Friday morning and red won going away. The Bills confirmed it the same morning with three words that tell you how the vote went: back by popular demand. Red end zones are the look from the early-1990s Super Bowl teams at Rich Stadium, so the first regular-season game in the new building opens with the blue primary jersey over a red end zone, the same pairing the Bills wore through the Kelly era. It is a small thing and it is exactly the right one: a fan vote that landed on the answer most of Bills Mafia would have given anyway. Whether the red end zones stay for the Nickel City games in Weeks 3 and 15 has not been announced, and a red end zone under a gray uniform would read very differently, so watch this space.

How the Bills Rotation Works in 2026

The system is unusually clean for a team with this many looks. Blue at home for the marquee dates, white on the road, and three different alternates each given a specific job: Nickel City twice as the new-uniform showcase, Cold Front once for Salute to Service against Miami, red once to close the year. The red helmet on Christmas Day is the fourth lever, and it is the smartest one, because it gives the road white set its own showcase night without adding another jersey to the closet. Nothing is wasted and nothing is over-worn, which is more than most teams manage. The only real gripe is that the best uniform in the building gets the fewest snaps.

Frequently Asked Questions

What jersey are the Bills wearing today?

Buffalo has the most crowded home calendar in the league, so the week matters more here than the venue. The blue primary has four confirmed home dates (Weeks 2, 4, 8 and 12), Nickel City gray gets Weeks 3 and 15, Cold Front is Week 11 against Miami, and the red alternate closes the season in Week 18. Road games are the white set.

What color are the Bills end zones for the home opener?

Red. Bills Mafia voted for red end zones in an official poll posted by team COO Pete Guelli, and the Bills confirmed the choice on September 4. The red end zones debut in the Week 2 home opener against the Lions on Thursday, September 17, the first regular-season game at the new Highmark Stadium.

What jerseys are the Bills wearing this week?

Buffalo has the most crowded home calendar in the league, so the week matters more here than the venue. The blue primary has four confirmed home dates (Weeks 2, 4, 8 and 12), Nickel City gray gets Weeks 3 and 15, Cold Front is Week 11 against Miami, and the red alternate closes the season in Week 18. Road games are the white set.

What uniform did the Bills wear last week?

For the uniform we logged in their most recent game, see the NFL uniform tracker, which we update through the week. The grid above is the season plan, and the tracker is the record of what actually went on the field.

What are the Bills wearing next week?

Check the grid above rather than guessing, because Buffalo confirmed its home schedule and it rotates four different looks. Every road week is white.

When do the Bills wear the Nickel City uniform in 2026? Twice, both at home: Week 3 against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, September 27, and Week 15 against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, December 19. Nickel City is the all-gray jersey and pant set worn with the blue "Charge" helmet.

When do the Bills wear the Cold Front uniform in 2026? Once: Week 11 at home against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, November 22, the Salute to Service game. Cold Front is Buffalo's all-white NFL Rivalries uniform with the metal-flake white helmet and the cracked-ice center stripe.

When do the Bills wear the red jersey in 2026? Week 18, the home finale against the New York Jets. The exact date has not been set because the NFL flexes Week 18 scheduling.

What is the Bills' primary uniform for 2026? Royal blue at home and white on the road, both with the white helmet. Buffalo also opens the season in blue on the road, with blue pants, because Houston is wearing white at home in Week 1. The blue primary is confirmed for four home games: the Week 2 opener against the Lions, Week 4 against the Patriots, Week 8 against the Ravens, and Week 12 against the Chiefs on Thanksgiving.

How many uniforms do the Bills have in 2026? Five looks: the blue primary, the white road set, the gray Nickel City alternate, the all-white Cold Front Rivalries uniform, and the red alternate.

Will the Bills wear the red helmet in 2026? Yes. Buffalo confirmed on August 25 that the red helmet returns for the Christmas Day road game at Denver in Week 16, worn with the white jersey and white pants, kicking off at 4:30 p.m. Eastern on Netflix. It is the only red-helmet game on the calendar, and it is separate from the red alternate jersey, which the Bills wear at home in Week 18 against the Jets.

Is the full Bills 2026 uniform schedule official? The home half is. The Bills confirmed the jersey for all eight home games. The nine road games follow the standard white road convention and are our projection until the team says otherwise.
