The honest caveat the grid cannot show: only the starred games are confirmed by the Texans, three from the home themes announcement plus Week 3 at Indianapolis, confirmed on game week. Houston announced themes for all eight home dates, but the rest are promotional themes such as Salute to Service, Kids Day, and the 25th Season celebration rather than uniform announcements, so the Deep Steel Blue home and white road assignments elsewhere follow the standard NFL home-and-away convention and are our projection. Week 18 against Tennessee is Houston's second alternate, the Blue Alternate, which is a separate jersey from Battle Red. Pants are a week-of-game call, and the Week 18 kickoff time has not been set.

Liberty White (Week 1 vs. Bills, Confirmed)

Houston opens the season at home against Buffalo on Sunday, September 13, and the Texans wore Liberty White with fans asked to wear white to match. The team's game-week graphic pointed to the red Battle Red helmet, but on the field Houston went with the standard navy helmet, white jersey and white pants, the Liberty White set under the navy shell. Buffalo won the opener 36-31.

Here is why it matters beyond the aesthetics. NFL convention lets the home team pick, and the visitor takes the contrasting jersey. By choosing white, Houston hands Buffalo the option of a colored jersey in Week 1, which is the opposite of how almost every home opener in the league is staged. As a uniform, Liberty White is the cleanest thing Houston owns. The navy and red striping does enough without crowding, and against a September afternoon under the NRG Stadium roof it should read sharply. Whether it is the right call for an opener is a separate question. The white set is the quiet one, and openers usually want volume.

Battle Red (Week 7 vs. Giants, Confirmed)

The Battle Red game returns for Week 7 against the New York Giants on Sunday, October 25, with the crowd asked to wear red and the team in the Battle Red uniforms. It is the best atmosphere on the Houston home schedule and it has been for years.

Battle Red is also the uniform that gives the Texans an identity. The navy home set is fine and slightly anonymous, a dark jersey with red trim in a league full of them. The red set is the one that looks like nobody else, and pairing it with a full-stadium red out is the sort of coordinated staging that most teams talk about and few actually pull off.

Our only complaint is the frequency. One Battle Red game a season is not enough for a uniform this strong, especially when the alternative is another afternoon in navy.

The "HOUSTON/US" Rivalries Uniform, Revealed (Week 11 vs. Colts)

The wait is over. Houston's Rivalries uniform dropped Tuesday morning under the name HOUSTON/US, with the tagline "By the H. For the H.," and it is built from the city itself: Liberty White as the base, H-Town Blue and Battle Red doing the accent work, and the blue-and-white street-tile mosaics you see all over Houston running through the stripes, the nameplate, and the numbers. The "Be Someone" bridge inspired the jersey numbers, the chrome facemask is a nod to slab culture and candy paint, and the inner collar reads HOUSTON in tiled letters.

The headline piece is the helmet, the first white shell in Texans history, a tribute to the white prototype the late Robert C. McNair held up in 1999 before the franchise settled on Deep Steel Blue. It carries a gothic H-Town "H" with a star on the side, a tiled red-and-blue center stripe, and an H-TOWN front bumper with a clean border around it, which is exactly the kind of small detail this program is supposed to deliver.

Our first take: we like this a lot. The palette is the win, light, bright, and completely different from the navy-heavy base set, and the chrome blue facemask is the single best facemask in the entire 2026 Rivalries class, even if the shell it is bolted to does not crack our top five. Putting the bullhead logo on the jersey chest is a smart move that keeps the primary mark on the uniform. Our one real quibble is the helmet logo: the gothic H is cool, but we would have preferred the primary bullhead on that white shell, because a first-ever white Texans helmet with the classic logo would have been an instant icon.

Second place in the 2026 class, and the gap between this and an A is one decision. The palette, the tile work, and that chrome cage are all excellent. Putting a secondary mark on the first white helmet the franchise has ever made is the swing that did not connect, because that shell was a chance to make the bullhead iconic in a color it has never worn.

Houston debuts the uniform against Indianapolis on Thursday, November 19, in a standalone Thursday Night Football window, the best possible stage for it. The program's rule is that the uniform comes out at a home game against a division rival, and Indianapolis is doing the same thing from the other side, debuting their Anvil Strike Rivalries jersey in Week 3 against the Texans, so this rivalry gets two brand-new uniforms in one season. Deep Steel Blue at Home (The Base Set, Expected)

The navy home jersey projects to three home dates: the Bengals in Week 2, the Ravens in Week 12, and the Jaguars in Week 15. Salute to Service against Baltimore is among the announced themes, but none of those dates names a jersey. The regular-season finale against the Titans in Week 18 goes to the Blue Alternate, Houston's second alternate after Battle Red. Week 4 against the Cowboys is the exception: Dallas published its own uniform schedule on September 2 with navy for the trip to Houston, and two teams cannot both wear dark, so the Texans will be in white at home that day while they celebrate the 25th Season. Whether that is the standard white or the Liberty White set has not been announced.

The 25th Season game is the one worth watching. A quarter-century is exactly the sort of milestone that produces a throwback, and Houston's original 2002 set is close enough to the current one that a heritage nod would be subtle rather than jarring. The team has not announced anything of the kind, so we are not putting it on the grid, but it is the most plausible place for a surprise on this schedule.

The White Road Set (Expected)

The white road uniform projects to all nine away games: at the Colts, Titans, Chargers, Browns, Steelers, Commanders, Eagles, Packers, and the Week 6 meeting with Jacksonville at Wembley.

That London game is the wrinkle worth understanding. Houston and Jacksonville meet in Week 6 on Sunday, October 18 at Wembley Stadium, and the Jaguars are the designated home team, which means Houston does not surrender one of its eight home dates and travels as the visitor. Two of the road games are also worth circling for contrast: Week 9 at the Chargers is Los Angeles's Super Chargers navy game, and Week 3 at Indianapolis is the Colts' Rivalries debut.

How the Texans Rotation Works in 2026

Houston's system is three jerseys and a plan. Navy is the default at home, white travels, and the two showcase dates get carved out early: white for the opener, red for the October home game with the best atmosphere. The Rivalries jersey then arrives in November as a fourth look, and the Blue Alternate closes the regular season against Tennessee in Week 18, which gives the season a genuine build rather than front-loading everything.
