Chelsea's 2026/27 home shirt launched with an unusual problem: a large empty space across the chest, because the club had no front-of-shirt sponsor when the kit was revealed. That gap has since been filled by USDC by Circle, announced on August 28. The away shirt has a design fault of its own, and the white third that arrived in October is the best of the three.
What Does Chelsea's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?

The gold works. This is the counter-example to Juventus putting gold on white: on solid Chelsea blue, gold has all the contrast it needs, and the laurel wreath around the collar is the best-executed trim detail of any Premier League shirt this season.
ESPN ranked it 35th of every Premier League kit and called it both minimalist and clunky, which we think is harsh on the gold work but fair on the overall proportions. At launch the blank chest was doing the club no favours visually.
The new sponsor helps. The USDC by Circle wordmark is gold-toned, so it picks up the piping and the laurel wreath instead of fighting them.

What Does Chelsea's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?

Taken entirely on its own this is a nice shirt. The standalone gold lion is a strong mark and the black-and-gold pairing is clean.
The trouble is it has nothing to do with Chelsea. Strip the crest off and you could sell this to half the clubs in Europe. Chelsea's identity is blue, comprehensively and without much ambiguity, and a change kit that abandons it entirely is a missed opportunity rather than a bold one.
We said the same about Manchester City's worker-bee away, which took the lowest grade in our whole ranking for the same reason.

What Does Chelsea's 2026/27 Third Kit Look Like?
White with thin red pinstripes and blue trim on the sleeves and neckline, a tribute to Chelsea's 1992-94 away shirts. The crest is the throwback one: the lion sitting on top of the block letters CFC, the badge Chelsea used from 1986 to 2005. It is the club's first white third kit since 2016-17.
It made its debut on October 17 at Everton, where Chelsea won 2-0. Everton were in royal blue, so the black away would have been fine. Chelsea chose the new shirt anyway.
This is the shirt in the set with an actual idea behind it. White, red and blue are all Chelsea colours, the pinstripes are fine enough to read as texture rather than pattern, and the old crest gives it a reason to exist beyond being a third colour.

Chelsea's Shirt Sponsor: USDC by Circle
Chelsea revealed their 2026/27 kits without a front-of-shirt sponsor, which is why the launch photos of the home shirt show a large empty block of blue. On August 28 the club announced Circle, the company behind the USDC digital dollar, as its new front-of-shirt partner on a long-term deal covering the men's, women's and academy teams. The chest now carries a gold-toned USDC by Circle wordmark.
That matters for the design more than it sounds. Shirt layouts are composed around the sponsor block, and without one the crest, the maker's mark and the trim on the home shirt had nothing to balance against. A gold wordmark on a gold-trimmed shirt is about as good a fit as the home kit could have hoped for.
