Liverpool's 2026/27 Kits: The Candy Shirt Returns, Graded

ColorWay Sports·

Liverpool's home shirt is one of the best in Europe and the two behind it are quiet. That is the whole story of this wardrobe. The home kit revives the 1989 to 1991 Candy-era graphic, the shirt Liverpool won the 1989/90 title in, and it is the strongest heritage reference any club made this season.

What Does Liverpool's 2026/27 Home Kit Look Like?

Deep red carrying the all-over geometric graphic from the 1989 to 1991 Candy era, the shirt Liverpool won the 1989/90 title in.

ESPN ranked this third of every Premier League kit, the highest-placed home shirt in the league, and we are close to that.

The shade of red is the best thing about it. Liverpool have drifted between reds over the years and this is the deep, slightly darker version that photographs properly under floodlights. The geometric graphic sits underneath it as texture rather than decoration, which is the correct call for a pattern this recognisable.

It also helps that the reference is to a specific shirt with a specific meaning rather than a vague gesture at the archive. Everyone who cares knows what the Candy kit is.

Grade: A-

What Does Liverpool's 2026/27 Away Kit Look Like?

White with maroon-red logos and the classic adidas Trefoil, with a shield-crest pattern lifted from 1970s Anfield match tickets. Released July 28.

The match-ticket detail is the best story of any away shirt this season. Someone went into the archive, found the shield crests printed on 1970s Anfield tickets, and turned them into an all-over pattern. That is proper work.

The shirt itself is clean and a little boring, which is also what Liverpool usually do with their white one. The Trefoil is a nice touch, part of the wider retro adidas revival across 2026/27. It is a good shirt that does not quite excite.

Grade: B

What Does Liverpool's 2026/27 Third Kit Look Like?

A black base with a bold wavy maroon graphic wrapping the torso and sleeves. Scheduled to launch August 12.

It is fine. Not very punchy, and a bit boring for a third kit, which is the one slot where a club has permission to take a real swing.

Marked provisional because it has not launched yet. It is due on August 12, and it is excluded from our main European ranking for that reason. We will confirm the grade once it is officially out and update this post.

adidas Are Back, And It Shows

2026/27 is Liverpool's second season with adidas after the switch from Nike, and the design language has changed noticeably. The Trefoil on the away shirt, the 1989 graphic on the home, the archive-diving generally: this is a kit partnership leaning hard into heritage.

It is the right instinct for this club specifically. Liverpool have one of the deepest and most emotionally loaded kit archives in football, and a supplier willing to use it properly is worth more than one chasing novelty.

Who Makes Liverpool's Kits?

adidas, who have supplied Liverpool since 2025.
