Nothing on that grid is a confirmed uniform assignment. Pittsburgh has published its 2026 game themes, and unlike a number of clubs this year, that announcement names no jerseys at all. The 1933 Throwback Is Confirmed for the Season, Not for a Game

This is the actual news. Team president Art Rooney II has confirmed that the 1933 throwback returns in 2026, and that the gold helmet comes with it. What has not been decided, in the team's own words, is which game.

The uniform is a replica of what the franchise wore in its first season in 1933, when it was still the Pittsburgh Pirates, and it is the single best thing any NFL team has pulled out of its archive in the last decade. The gold helmet is the reason. Pittsburgh has worn the same black helmet with a logo on one side since 1962, so a gold shell is the only thing that genuinely changes the silhouette of this team, and it only gets three outings a season under the league's alternate-helmet rule.

We have it for Week 12, Black Friday against Denver on November 27. It is a standalone national window on Prime Video, the first Black Friday game in franchise history, and exactly the kind of slot a club dresses up for. The gold jersey will make it the brightest game on the Steelers' calendar.

The Color Rush Question (Week 13 Against Houston)

The all-black Color Rush set is Pittsburgh's other alternate, and the team has traditionally saved it for a home night game.

In 2026 there is exactly one of those. The Steelers have a single primetime home game all season, Sunday Night Football in Week 13 against Houston on December 6, and that is where we have the all-black Color Rush, not the standard black home jersey.

White on the Road (7 Games)

Weeks 2, 4, 7, 11, 14, 17 and 18. Pittsburgh plays more road games than home games this season, which is what happens when one of your home games is shipped overseas.

Black in Tampa and Cincinnati (Weeks 6 and 10)

Two road games put the Steelers in black, and both are the home team's call. Tampa Bay wears white at home in Week 6, so Pittsburgh wears black at Raymond James Stadium. The Steelers play New Orleans at the Stade de France on Sunday, October 25, and this trips up a lot of schedule pages, so it is worth being precise: New Orleans is the designated home team. NFL.com lists the game as Steelers at Saints.

That means Pittsburgh wears white and the Saints wear black. It also means the game does not count as one of Pittsburgh's eight home dates, which is why the team's own themes announcement for Acrisure Stadium skips October 25 entirely. Both clubs' schedule widgets render the game as "vs", which is the source of the confusion.
